Anybody ever out-sourced their grunt work?

Hey guys,
I've been thinking about outsourcing my grunt work like submissions/recips...there are a few companies out there that i've found who do this...some cost like 5 per submission set....others have you hire a full time employee for like 4.50 an hour...what are your feelings on services like these? Anyone use them before? Thanks

Nickname 2004-01-30 04:37 AM

$4,50 an hour?? you kidding me??
who will do grunt work for $4,50/h :-)LOL

DrSmut 2004-01-30 05:27 AM

Out source...as in to other countries, where 4.50 is a lot of money

docholly 2004-01-30 08:05 AM

you get what you pay for.

maybe you should post a message in the help wanted section and what you are willing to pay and see if you get any hits.

Ding, your fries are done…

Greenguy 2004-01-30 08:11 AM

MrMaryLou is my grunt - I can hear him grunting from here :)

But, he is also a well paid grunt & he's worth every penny :D

Nickname 2004-01-30 08:59 AM

Cloe, hehe :-)
if im not wrong not even the guy doing fries gets as low as 4,50....
but if were talking other countrys like maybe some eastern europe or asia I can understand what your talking about :-)

but still if you takle 4,5 an hour for submitting free sites, why not just build a site and submit? can guarantee way more than 4,5 for that :)lol

I'm thinking off outsourcing my life. Looking at how the software companies are doing it I believe I could get someone from India to live my life for me for about $100 per month. I realize that I may have to pay them a bit more if gong to the gym is included and it might be a bit hard finding someone since I'm a vegetarian.

I figure that by paying someone well under $200 per month to live my life instead of the rather outrages amount that at present it is costing me I could live a whole lot cheaper being me and then stash away a whole fucking shit load of cash for early retirement.

Off to go check out the Indian classifieds…

I'm training a couple college students right now to do some work for me. They need the money and this way I can watch over their shoulder to make sure everything is being done right. But most importantly, I'm hoping to bump them up from grunt work to some more essential things.

Hopefully all works out!

Surfn 2004-01-30 03:21 PM

I outsource most of my graphics work. Other than that I do it all.

Bloody funny Cleo! :D

We have the "indian-outsourcing" problem here too.. Our major telco/ISP has been in the shit for doing it twice in the last year. Cutting 4-5000 AU jobs for cheap Indian workers. :(

I agree, and sadly we can thank the massive Employee Taxes for that, my Payroll Taxes would blow you away, shit they blow me away, while blowing at the same time.

As for the outsourcing, Im not sure you "Get what you pay for" many companies, including massive one's, Dole, and the list grows and grows daily, use outsourced companies or reolcate period.

We use a few outsourcing options and the results are excellent, we are very happy with the results, ofcourse patience is a factor :)

I make a nice living for my family and I doing the grunt work that everyone wants to outsource so I can't complain. So, if you want to keep work in America, hit me up :-)

I would like to jump in on this – I need to hire someone to handle some of my grunt work BADLY – let me say that again I NEED TO HIRE SOMEONE BADLY. I’ve seen these things to hire cheap webmasters like this, but I am apprehensive, and I don’t know if I can trust them.

With that being said, I need to hire someone like (the incomparable) MML. I’d be willing to shell out a few extra bucks for someone who is experienced and trustworthy.

I've also been told to hire programmer out of country that you need to up a corperation in the country.

Syke 2004-02-02 07:59 PM

my gf does telemarketing(non adult), site submitting and reviewing for me :)

in your case, i'd go with someone you know and trust, if possible. or try and pay on a quota and have some kind of audit trail that allows you to know exactly what's be done and what you've paid for.. anyway good luck!

Ok, I have to ask. If you're getting a cut... how much of the $4.50 an hour is going to the actual grunt?

why do you have to ask?

when you go to Mcdonalds to buy your dinner, do you ask - "hey, whats your wholesale for this burger man?"

i'm not trying to be evasive, but I think my wholesale rates are my business - arent they?

sure they are.... I had to ask because i was interested... I never said you had to answer.

and again.... I find it interesting that you didn't.

btw... interesting analogy.... do people = piece of meat, to you?

EvilDan 2004-02-03 05:17 PM

Hey Trev - am I on your shit list?

I only ask as I dont think we have met, and you comments thus far have been more like a GFY person than a GG & J poster???

***

and to xxxjay and Extreme John - thank you very much

a lot of hard work and serious effot went into building Ezygo

Honestly, the hardest part was getting those two search engne deals with Inktomi and FindWhat for my fellow webmasters

Nah.. I only read gfy when reffered to a thread. Are you saying that gg&j posters can't ask questions? I thought both were quite fair and simple questions. Neither of which you answered, which is your right, and I didn't press on either. Rather defensive aren't you?

If you misunderstood my intentions, I'm sorry. Have a nice day.

DrSmut 2004-02-03 05:49 PM

Geez...i've certainly gotten my money's worth on this thread :)

not defensive at all mate...

just amazed that someone would be so direct in asking my wholesale rates on a public board like this

and thanks for the banter btw - nice chat ;-)

I need to hire a grunt - if you know a good one - get hold of me.

Mikey 219 2004-02-05 10:06 AM

proceed with caution and get references, and make sure the person you are outsourcing to understands exactly what you want for exactly what you can pay for the service ... this is my advice after having outsourced much work ;)

Mikey

TrafficFreak 2004-02-05 02:33 PM
