Good Wednesday Morning

Big day today...
Lots of people coming today to help Vickie. And, I have to finish the work I was supposed to get done yesterday.

Good morning,
I do hope they can help her.

balls_deep 2008-05-21 07:45 AM

Good morning everyone.

Its unseasonably cold here today. Im going to do some updates and take my little one to the amusement park later today.

Coffee is on.

Cleo 2008-05-21 07:46 AM

Another hot and smokey one here today.

Relaxed in my backyard last night under the full moon and watching the space station pass in the night sky.

Just a day spent in the A/C with naked creatures on my computer screen planned.

papagmp 2008-05-21 07:47 AM

Still cool enough to sleep - I had better get to bed.

It's going to be a long one today and I haven't been able to sleep right for a week.

Good Morning.

Usual work today and my basketball summer league starts tonight.

bluebrit 2008-05-21 09:07 AM

Good morning all. Feels like winter here so I'm staying indoors. Hope you have a good one whatever it brings you.

Greenguy 2008-05-21 09:21 AM

Good Hump Day Everyone |haha

Like T Pat, I watched the new National Treasure last night - pretty good movie, especially for a sequel. I also watched Lars & The Real Girl, which was as funny as you'd expect it to be, but I did fall asleep during it & woke up when he started to fall in love with a human. I didn't bother to rewind it.

I get to go see the |loony| Dr this morning. After that, I've got work to do (it's odd working so much & actually enjoying it) and then I think I have to clean up the Pool House because Emmy & BlueBrit will be sleeping down there when they visit this weekend. I can't wait to see how much candle wax is embedded in the rug |pokefun||greenguy|
(I know - hot water on rags & blot the area - blow me)

Tekster 2008-05-21 09:54 AM

Good Morning All,

Busy day yesterday and for the next couple of days with off line stuff.

Have a good and prosperous day!

Simon 2008-05-21 09:58 AM

Good morning world |waves|

As someone who hasn't ever made a candle, but has overseen many a spilled hot wax cleanup, I can also suggest putting a brown paper bag (or newspaper if the rug isn't some light color) over the wax in the carpet and then using a warm iron to melt the wax so it will stick to the bag.

Wishing everyone a 'damn, that was easy to get out' kind of day.

:)

sue-fl 2008-05-21 10:02 AM

Morning!

Well it looks like it's going to be sunny today after two days of cloudy/rain I'm ready for some sun!

Now I have to change my working schedule to getting up early and working and then working at night for a couple hours. The afternoons will now be spent in the pool |bananna|

Have a nice day all |thumb

Good Morning Gang!

Preacher 2008-05-21 10:28 AM

Day 4 sans computer.

I actually got some work done yesterday on my wife's computer before the kids got home. Later, I switched to the Mac to browse some webstes and once again Firefox crashed and locked up my system. :(

I imagine that today will be a lot like yesterday. |waves|

There is something very wrong with your setup. It's been years since any of my Macs have locked up.

cd34 2008-05-21 10:47 AM

GIGO testing is for the birds. :) Tested a theory with a proper environment and the results mystify me.

Last time my mac locked up was the day of the dreaded hard drive failure. Four hours of scrambling to find a new hard drive. I cannot imagine 4 days without a machine. I sympathize with your plight Preacher.

Back to testing and figuring out why something is faster than it should be.

RedCherry 2008-05-21 11:04 AM

Morning all. It is REALLY windy today here |hurricane looking at weather bug we are getting gusts up to 40MPH already this morning. My tomato plants so far are hanging in there, I feel sorry for them though, lol.

Other than going to the chiropractor to get crunched, I plan on staying inside and working all day on porn and non-porn projects.

When it got 104 and was getting up to the high 70s in the house with the one swamp cooler, we went out and bought a 2nd (used to have 2, but the 2nd is in the greenhouse). MadHatter got it all installed yesterday in the sliding glass door we have in the living room, and that will keep us cool. Although the highs are predicted at only 80 today and in the 70s the next two days, so won't need it for a few days. But soon we will be 110 plus and we will be happy it is there. |thumb

Other than that, not much is new at our house.

LeRoy 2008-05-21 11:17 AM

Good morning everyone. Have some mainstream stuff to do today and back to building my hub.

JustRobert 2008-05-21 11:56 AM

Good Morning/Afternoon :)
Lots of work and thats about it.

bDok 2008-05-21 12:03 PM

Morning all. Going to be sorting out some coding stuff and then going to make some phone calls to figure some stuff out.

Probs later will take a nap as for some reason I just didn't sleep well last night. Might have to do with the drinking I did last night at the game. Not really hung over just really tired. |huh

happy hump day.

docholly 2008-05-21 12:24 PM

|hurricane As my "Over the Hump in Pahrump" Pal, RedCherry said..we are having high winds in the desert. 45MPH right now. and some |angry| idiot started a brush fire on the 1 road between us. Last news report was about 4-6 days for containment. |hotjump|

Not much planned today other than working and then around 4pm.. have to get ready for the private showing at 5 of the new Indiana Jones movie @ the Palms. I hope they are not serving worms, snake or monkey brains.

did i ever mention that Camgirls are flakes?? |banghead| and yet i keep believing in them..

|greenguy| I was coming to post what Simon Sez.. brown paper bag and hot iron works wonders.

Have a good one.. and Happy Humping Day. |thumb

It's very possible. I have OSX and the only things I have installed on it are Firefox, BBedit, MS Office and Adium. When I discovered that Firefox on the Mac won't refresh my script correctly after making an entry, it basically became my travel or web-browsing only notebook.

I've had Firefox crash 3 times this year (probably about 20 uses) to the point where it locks up the entire system and I have had to power it off.

I have no idea what's going on with it. |huh

cd34 2008-05-21 02:58 PM

Firefox3 on mac adds new challenges to the day. After 20 hours or so of the browser being open, images stop loading properly. CSS breaks in new ways, pages look different. And, some sites refuse to even load..... at first I figured it was pipelining, but, by default, pipelining is off. When you type in the url bar, it is now case insensitive, and, much nicer. The del.icio.us plugin works a little differently -- not better or worse, but different.

But, as yet, haven't had it lock up the machine (nor any other mac app)

Preacher you really need to visit your LL in Safari while you are in Mac hell.

You may have bad memory or something on your Mac if it is locking up. Are you getting a kernel panic with the dialog coming up in a bunch of languages or is the curser just freezing? I never run MS Office instead I use NeoOffice since it is free but I do run with a lot of programs open all the time.

Cleo 2008-05-21 03:04 PM

What is up with the two of you and Firefox?

I run two copies of Firefox at the same time all the time and it never gives me any problems at all.

I do use Safari as my main browser so maybe that has something to do with it???

cd34 2008-05-21 03:11 PM

I'm using firefox3-rc1 -- not firefox2 Though, I will probably go back a version.

When firefox2 was released, some of their default settings broke on networks using ECN.... so, sites like cisco.com and ebay.com and a few others were not accessible until firefox2-rc2 switched a default. I just figured it would be good to test things ahead of time to see what breaks (and I did find quite a few css issues in a few sites we're developing).

Cleo 2008-05-21 03:19 PM

I like Firefox for doing reviews and geek type stuff. I also like that you can open multiple copies of it by just duplicating and clicking instead of using the terminal. Also unlike opening multiple copies of Safari (open -n /Applications/Safari.app) each copy can have its own personality but for just everyday browsing, like right now, I use Safari.

Still can't image why it is taking down Preacher's system.

I was downloading the FF 3.0.RC1 today and it is pretty fast.. I still have 2.0.0.14 installed and there are a few progs open like icq, suitcase, textedit and transmit. All this on a 3 yr old mini mac with 1 GB ram.

I have to try and run both foxes lol not that makes much sense. I hate safari personally.

PS
I cannot run the two versions of FF at the same time, the error message reads: a copy of Firefox is already open.

PS2
sorry for the typos, I have become fluent lately.

And still, it works with rugs too just put something under it |greenguy||waves|

Simon 2008-05-21 06:07 PM

Okay, fine, what I meant to say was put an old shower curtain on the floor, then coat her liberally with oil first, then all the hot wax you want to spill, followed by a nice mummy wrap with some cling film. Turn the heat lamps on for a few minutes and when you unwrap her the wax will just fall off.

Wait... what was your question again?

:D

Thank you, that's exactly what I am seeing, but I don't have it on for twenty hours straight. I browse for an hour and then close it without shutting it down then go back to browsing later. I have experienced everything you mentioned above, especially the pics not loading thing that had me very confused because it wasn't even showing that a pic should be there on the page when I knew it should. :)

The curser just freezes. I haven't had one come back to life and I honestly have no idea if you can kill apps through some kind of task manager so I end up having to turn it off.

Oh, and I did try my script with Safari and had the same issues. My brother-in-law changed my script to work with Firefox on the Mac by changing the way it refreshed and it was working, but I think the update to Firefox broke it again which makes absolutely no sense to me. :(

Hold down "Command Option Escape" to bring up the task manager.

You can also open it from the Apple menu but if the front most application is not responding then this way often will not work but "Command Tab" will switch between running applications.

I like to leave my Activity Monitor open on my second monitor sorted by cpu usage. You can force quit from this too.

Maybe the newer version has been made more compliant with the Acid Test.
