I Need A Puppy
My daughter is home from visiting her grand parents and she spent a month with a kitty. Now she wants a pet but after visiting the allergist it seems that I'm still allergic to cats. Dogs are another story.
Any recommendations? I need a small, not toy, dog that's good with kids, doesn't shed a lot and no slobber. While we'll probably check out the local shelters to see what's what if we go with a breeder I'm thinking about a poodle. |
Get a hairless cat. :D

That was one of the first things I researched. |
Both my partner and I are allergic to cats yet we have three.
Guess if you have money to burn you could get a genetically modified cat. Personally I want a hairless cat and a mini me.|jester| |
Or you could save the $1K and just make your own hairless cat.

genetically modified cat is great, :)

Now that they are genetically modifying cats maybe we can look forward to catdogs... or would that be dogcats?

Labs make great pets.

A Parson Russell Terrier is a good choice if you're looking for a pet that's energetic and affectionate.
Try this link too: Dog Breed Selector |
We have three cats and three macaws but my partner wants a small dog too.
Our cats have cat doors and come and go as they please, no litter box. Any dogs that aren't much bigger then large cats that don't bark every time they hear something outside? A dog that could use the cat doors too would be great. I'm more of a cat person, not sure why I have birds. I like the way cats take care of themselves. Ours have a food and water dispenser and the only care they need is having their dispenser filled once a week. Ours follow us around the house and sleep with us. What's a good small dog for a cat person? |
Just got a new beagle pup 2 weeks ago, they meet all your qualifications

Most beagles go 25-30 lbs full grown....Sam is 14 weeks (and just under 10 lbs) in those pics

This short music video should help you make the right decision on what kind of dog you should get. |thumb

A fish is a great pet , doesn't invade your space , lose its fur and best of all it shits in its own space. You just can't beat it |thumb

Maltese or brown retriever?

In my opinion Labs are the best dogs for a kid but you want small
Don't get a Chihuahua I have one and he hates kids We have a miniature dachshund pup that would make a great kid's dog, she should weigh in at 10 or 11 pounds when fully grown. The only real bad thing about the pup is the volume and pitch of her bark, but a bark collar is fixing that problem real fast |
No one needs a puppy. |dog|pissleft|
I usually love my dogs, except for those rare occasions that I'd like to leave the house or get some sleep or eat. We have two boxers. While they are muscular dogs who look like they should be feared, they are both amazing with kids and, from what I'm told, it is one of their better traits. They take a lot of abuse from my son and actually look scared, as if they've done something wrong, if he intentionally rolls off the couch and lands on them. I tend to make my dogs sound like bastards, but that's only because they are as uncivilized as the the rest of us in this house. |
I am a life-long cat person that tolerates larger dogs. Living alone in the country, my "brother" decided I HAD to have a dog. Yeah, right. Don't get me wrong, Dolly is a sweet female border collie/Australian shepherd mix that is great with everyone. She also barks at everything and is a confirmed escape artist with a death warrant on her head from the local dog catcher. She figured out how to open the latch on the gate and busts out every chance she gets. A year later, she and I kind of get along, but I am much closer to the three cats.
A smaller dog would have been cool. We have 3 chihuahua-pomeranian mixes at work that keep us company. Great with kids, and great intruder alarms. We all run around with gold fur on us. If you check with the local no-kill shelters, you may well find a slightly older dog - still a puppy - that desperately needs a real home. And.. mutts always seem to make better pets. Good luck with the hunt.. may you find the right fit for everyone! |

I have to say, I'm not a fan of the beagle. The "hunting instinct" is just too much for someone who wants a family dog.... barking, nose to the ground sniffing the whole time your trying to walk it, trying to chase squirrels that are half a block away...
Personally, some of the best dogs I've had or seen were mixed breeds that came from the shelter... Here's a crappy cell phone pic of my rottweiler "walking" my girlfriends' beagle. Kai & Maggie :D |
hairless cats look so yucky!!! yeah labradors are quite friendly dogs and are good for the homes which has small kids, they very loving dogs
