How long does it take you to create a unique post?

and since I'm still new to blogging and wordpress I'm timing myself at 25 minutes to find a gallery, crop an image, and write about 100 words. Is that overkill? Anyone else have their times?

For the blog that follows along that line, of about 100 words per post, 35-40 minutes, depending on how many times I re-write it.

The blog where the posts are much longer, the amount of time is much greater.

On my better posts, about 45 minutes to an hour. Sometimes I spend a bit more time hunting down non porn media to throw in there.
BTW, your blog looks good and I like the evil sister at the footer.

Depends - If I'm organized, 15-20 minutes. I write as quickly as I can type - it's the time that it takes to find, crop, watermark and upload the images that slows me down.

For me, prepping an image or images and then writing a good 150 word post about it, takes me about 25 minutes.

You guys are slackers. I have a lot of blogs and now we are working on building a large custom blog network for a client. I've been writing in a lot of blogs.

I have a system down pat, and I write posts for either two weeks or a month in advance. I'll hit one program, I quickly download the pictures to the same folder (called "today" really), and using Blogdesk I quickly add in the pictures. No big drama with cropping pictures; Blogdesk gives me a choice of three sizes and ( large, medium, and thumbnail which will even link it up to full sized photo ), select the categories it goes into, spell check, upload.... Then I delete the photos from drive using ACDC which is always up and on that folder I use.

Here's a typical post I did a few days ago. I'm using large photos that blogdesk crops down to 420 width, medium which is great for two landscape pix side by side, and thumbnails that link up the original.

Also.... I currently push something like 160 different sponsors, and I have different lists for myself, Cherry Pimps, and other clients. Blog desk has a great feature called "frequanty used phrases" where I store all of my links in HTML code so I can quickly just insert them in there.

I'm playing with this a bit. One thing that slows me down is that I often use images that I don't have in my affiliate area so I have to add the watermark and touch up the image from the original vid cap or nef file. No way to speed my nitpicky image editing habits. |loony|

Rochard of the Bunny Ranch I presume? (Amongst the 199 others!). If so, that's a fine blog you got there. That was one of the first blogs I checked out when I started doing this. My PR is still too low for a trade though.

10 minutes tops per post for me. That's just writing time mind. I have sponsor content organized in folders. Hard to put a time tab on that part, because I put maybe an hour into downloading and unzipping content from a single sponsor, but that can last for dozens of posts. With the new Wordpress interface, there's no need to resize images prior to posting. It does everything blogdesk does, I think.

Then I get to the post, pick out 1-3 images from my sponsor folder, grab the tour link code from my sleek excel sheet that holds all my sponsor codes, and write 200-400 words about the scene. All in all, 10 minutes per post. It's not Shakespeare, but it's decent (or rather indecent) text, with a personal touch and it works for me.

Ok I guess I'm not too far off for a beginner. Hope to get the process and times down. Gotta check out Blogdesk.

The responses bring up another point: link pics to the FHG or direct to sponsor? I've been linking to the FHG which I thought surfers would like, but direct linking to the tour would sure speed things up. Would those be considered blind links?

You're one of those REALLY EXCITED!!! people who uses an exclamation point (or three) on every other sentence.

I, like Walrus, have fairly high standards when it comes to writing (which is one of the reasons why I gave up on sponsor feeds many moons ago), but I can produce 100-300 words in a few minutes, assuming the muse (the gallery content) provokes me. That is, of course, the unedited version of a post. Editing a post takes me longer than its initial creation. But I have to be in the mood to write. Really good writers will sit and write even if nothing comes to mind. So I guess I'm not a really good writer. At least I can hold my head up high, knowing that I don't use exclamation points in an effort to forge a level excitement which goes unsolicited by my words. |nahnah|

It seems the exclamation point is ubiquitous in porn writing. Free sites, galleries, hubs, link lists, TGPs, blogs, site tours, newsletters--they're all filled with exclamation points which have no real reason to be there.

I'd love to see the test data which everyone seems to rely on. You know, the test results that say if someone uses a lot of exclamation points in their writing, including multiple exclamation points, the reader will get more excited and therefore will be more likely to click a link and buy a membership.

I wish sponsors had an "exclamation points/no exclamation points" option in their promo tools section so I could opt-out of having them appear in all the wrong places.

I usually figure about 30 minutes total for each post, including collecting whatever is required for that post, no matter when I collect the information/pics/links/etc.

Rewriting sponsor feeds can cut that time in half if the photo is usable and the links go to the right places already.

Anywhere from 5 - 35 minutes depending on how lazy I am and how much needs to be done.

10 mins for a porn blog, up to a few hours for my mainstream sites.

Most of my posts are done in under 10mins. I also do a month's worth of pre-scheduled posts per blog each day.

A sblog post with 200 words and a pic usually takes around 20 to 30 mins. If I write more detailed posts like reviews it can take several hours and may involve a couple of people to prepare the media for me. The investigative part usually takes much longer than the actual writing.

First I get the picture(s) I want, write up about 5 or 6 sentences, go over it, add links and formatting.. probably takes me 15-20 minutes.

No, in fact, I'm just the opposite. I'm very calm and don't really get excited too often. I also don't see where I used any exclamation points either.....

Sooooo...... You're saying Rochard doesn't have high standards? Rochard's Bunny Ranch is pretty much THE standard for adult blogging right now. I fail to see how a liberal use of exclamation points means he doesn't care about the quality of his blogs.

Soooo..... I fail to see how THAT babelog could possibly be considered THE standard (or any standard) for adult blogging. On a true blog, more geography is covered with TEXT than with images. The idiotically liberal use of exclamations points is childish and simply put, bad writing. The moment a nifty header graphic becomes the most important aspect of a blog, I'm certain the Bunny Ranch will pop up amongst the top 50 pretty blog-wannabes.

If you mean in the example post, I counted 23 exclamation points total. But I did count each individual one, so maybe it was only 14 sentences which ended with one or more of them. Either way, it was enough to get me to chime in right after UW first commented on it.

I'm not sure how long it took Lewis Thomas (American essayist 1913-93) to create his 'post' about this, quoted below, but I'd say it was time well-spent:

"Exclamation points are the most irritating of all. Look! they say, look at what I just said! How amazing is my thought! It is like being forced to watch someone else's small child jumping up and down crazily in the center of the living room shouting to attract attention. If a sentence really has something of importance to say, something quite remarkable, it doesn't need a mark to point it out. And if it is really, after all, a banal sentence needing more zing, the exclamation point simply emphasizes its banality!"

Soooo (just wanted to get in on that)... I have nothing bad to say about the Bunny Ranch blog, it's just the punctuation marks themselves which inspire my ire.

My closing note is just that when referring to 'adult blogging' (which is *mostly* about making money) compared to what's been referred to already as 'true' blogging, the standard I believe we could all agree on is that the best adult blog would be the one which generates the most $$ per thousand visitors.

Look, I'm not here to argue guy. Maybe the use of exclamation points is idiotic to you, but it can't be any more idiotic than flaming someone on a forum about some anal retentive observation of their grammar. The guy was simply trying to help people out by showing them ways that might help get their blogs done faster and more efficiently and your response was to insult his writing style. Honestly, who's the one being childish here?

That "babe blog" has inspired many people to get into blogging including myself. Sift through this forum a bit and you'll see what I'm talking about. If your blogs are capable of inspiring other people to create their own blogs than yes, that is what you call setting the industry standard. It's called leading by example.

On your word, I did sift through all 41 of his posts. Not all of them having to do with blogging and I must confess I did not see what you are talking about. Perhaps you can point me to the post that you and so many others found inspirational

Those are just a few examples I've seen.

But whatever... I'll concede the point and agree that it's not the standard if you want. The guy still has damn good looking blogs and not just because of a "good looking banner". Regardless, that blog makes good money and that's all that really matters.

About 10 minutes to write the post draft and cross reference it with a search term suggestion tool to power up the keyword densities.

Writing is often the tricky part.

I guess I average about 200-300 words per post, and it takes me about ten minutes. But that is after considering the site audience, SEO goals, content etc.

Don't think this ? ever got answered here, I'm curious as well.
