all morning the board was down again and now it's sloooow like hell (so slow that after typing this I'm outa here) -

In a bizarre quirk of fate, GG&J ending up moving onto a network that experienced an "issue" this evening. As a result of these issues, some sites are slow, some are down, and in my case 4 servers and over 1800 domains are all down at one shot.

Things are returning to normal. Any link bots seeing 404 or down give me a break.. things should be back normal shortly!

Sounds like I am going to have to find MML a new boob hat in january!

A whole bunch of things happened at the same time, and a switch went bad just ahead of my stuff, it took a little while to track it down, as soon as it was spotted, it was fixed and everything came back up.

it's all good... and it's all up and running fine.

Sorry to say, but over 24 hours later and the board is still really slooow here in OZ in bigpond ADSL - took way over a minute to load this window, and with the other post I did today it took even longer to load the 'preview' window...

Right after posting the above I could not get the site at all anymore for about 2 hours - and now I'm getting lots of broken images... |angry|

The board is running faster for me then I have ever seen it, really supper fast, I love it. :)

GeorgeTH - we are working on the board speed - we found one coding problem that sped things up 67%. We know of another coding problem that will take a few days to sort out, but after that, we should be as fast as beer into an Irishman :D

Congrats to your new home and I also noticed that the speed has been up and down for a while, but I think it's working better for me now.

...you're not quite there but it's getting better, much better!
There's still a noticable delay after the advertising buttons are showing.

But I'm full of confidence that you will get it sorted |peace|

Greenguy: damn, that would be fast! ;-) Seriously though, one thing to check is that the tables used in the database have correct indexes on them. Sometimes just adding one more indexed field can really speed basic operations up... it is a VERY common programming error (that I even make myself now and again).

We found a few problems last week that seemed to be causing some server problems. Right now, I am not at liberty to say what the problems were but...it has been fixed for a few days now.

Tomorrow we start some major tune ups with the site itself. Now that we have had a taste of speed, we want more :)
