I find it strange that the country which probably has the most widespread belief in Christianity, also actively celebrates, what I always thought was, a Pagan holiday.

Why is that?

Maybe because a cross brought Jesus such good luck?

From the outside looking in... I would be voting Obama. I know it's none of my business, but he really does come across as being a great leader in the making.

I'm not sure myself but it wouldn't be the first time Christianity has made concessions to pagan rituals to ease in the assimilation of "heretics." They did it in Ireland (some Irish folklore has been Christianized and accepted as being compatible with Christianity; Irish celtic art has influenced Christian symbolism there) The same goes for Christmas. It derived from a pegan celebration from Northern Europe.

Uh, Easter derives from a very old spring pagan ritual, and Christmas itself has a strong pagan root. Many pagan groups had celebrations for the new year as well as for the beginning of seasons. It is All Hallow's Eve, or the time when the barrier between the spirit world and mortal worlds are at their closest. Any coincidence that the Catholics celebrate All Saint's day on November 1st? As it is a holy day of obligation among the devout, it always struck me odd. But then, I am a pagan.

Rather than focus on mystical meanings and whatnot, kick back, have fun, and be a kid again!! Be silly, don't think heavy thoughts. In modern America, it is a huge holiday among adults for some unknown reason.
