Yes, I'm Down - I Know

Just so none of you feel it necessary to create threads with my domains in the title or unlinked in your posts, be assured that I realize PerveSpace.com and every other fucking thing I own has been missing from the ether for 3 or so hours.

Don't fret. I'm sipping coffee, listening to acoustic music, and looking at the help wanted ads in the local paper. Everything is going to be fine.

NY Jester 2009-01-08 09:01 AM

As long as you know, then we are all good.

Mateusz 2009-01-08 09:19 AM

Seems to be working now |thumb

Useless 2009-01-08 09:21 AM

The calming acoustic music helped: I'm back up. Of course, I'm now seeing that my sites were completely unreachable since before 3AM, my host's monitoring system managed to pick up that fact by 5AM and never managed to bring me back up until I submitted my own ticket minutes ago.

Excellent. |thumb

Did you expect anything less? I don't do the simple 30 minute down times these other pussies do. When I go down, I make it an all day process of up and down, including times when FTP and email will work, but HTTP is taking a break. Then I'll mix it up by making it completely dead to the net. That's how I roll. I'm hardcore.

ladydesigner 2009-01-08 02:08 PM

Sweet! Now my whole freakin day of submitting is screwed up cuz you're sites are down. I'm moving on, that's how I roll. Kidding! Hope you get it all fixed soon UW. :)

Sorry. |cry|

ManageMy(fucking)Box is sort of looking into it.
They've handed off the issue to the Concern Dept. whatever the hell that means.

My entire little empire will be permanently moving over to one of Colo-cation's properties over the next couple of days. Please bear with me as my old host is very slow in their responses.

Colo-cation has been nothing but good to me since I made the switch. :)

I'm working on it. I think you know, my sig is my highest priority. The image file has been uploaded to Colo and I've edited the nameservers for that domain. |thumb

Finally got a reply back from the current host: My server has been severely compromised. They intentionally took it offline, but didn't bother to tell me. Instead, they let me sit here all day believing that they are too lazy to reboot it for me.

Useless 2009-01-08 06:12 PM

Ladies and Gentleman, the image in my sig is now hosted by Colo-cation.com.

Knowing that thousands of webmasters worldwide are watching this thread in nervous anticipation, I've decided to give you this update. 8 hours after opening the support ticket, I received this:
Quote:

Dear Mark,

Your server has been replugged and it is online now, also we have performed basic hardening and also blocked the ip's attacking server. We have also installed and configured firewall on the server, so you should now not face any issues.
In reality, the server still times-out when pinged. Also, that basic hardening and firewall was supposed to have been done before I ever received the server months ago. I can't believe this host has the word 'Managed' in its name.

They apparently left out the "Mis" due to domain name length and marketing reasons.

Cleo 2009-01-09 07:15 AM

Now all your stuff is 404.

There's a simple explanation for that. The did an loaded the OS on another drive, synced my date over to that drive - and Apache won't start. |thumb

cd34 was up later than me, and I was up until 3AM, so I'm not going to call him. (The man deserve his rest after dealing with me yesterday.) When he comes online, he's going to rysnc my data onto his servers and life will be good. I held out until the last minute, like a fool, to start uploading my local back-ups to Colo because I was hoping that the old host would have that server running last night so cd34 could do the rysnc. Now I can't even figure out what they've done wrong and it's pretty obvious that they didn't look at anything before handing me over the box.

NY Jester 2009-01-09 09:13 AM

Hey Useless, do you sort of feel like your being bent over a fallen tree in the backwoods..do hear banjos playing? |assfuck|

What's a boy to do? A little over a year ago, I finally learned to accept that there are things that are out of my control and that I cannot allow those things to ruin me. Otherwise, I'd be crying right now. But I'm coping. And knowing that I'm moving everything to Colo today helps.

I attempted to restart Apache - got an error. Hit the start Apache button - got an error. I used the reboot command within my old control panel -- 5 minutes later and the control panel isn't even responding anymore. I may take up widdling.

Cleo 2009-01-09 09:27 AM

You could always put up a MySpace Hip Hop page and start selling sex toys.

Now I have no idea what I'm saying. What do rednecks call it when they sit on their shitty front porch, carving away at a stick, instead of screwing their own kin?

EDIT: cd34 is rysncing as we speak. The man does not sleep.

Maybe I've been watching too much SciFi but I'm beginning to have doubts that he is actually human.

Useless 2009-01-09 10:22 AM

Cd34 was connected to the old box literally less than 5 minutes and found the exploit. The old host had the server down for over 24 hours and managed to block an IP rather than discovering why that IP was "attacking" the box.

Simon 2009-01-09 10:27 AM

Not that it matters one whit, but...

I've been learning to speak phonetically to go along with my new avatar and huge-ass eyebrows.

Cleo 2009-01-09 10:34 AM

Shouldn't that be Spanglish Ebonics?

As far as my link lists and free sites are concerned, I'm up and running. Cd34 took care of my priority sites first, so thank him, not me. :)

And yes, submissions to PerveSpace and WhoringWives do appear to be functioning properly.

You may witness the occasional path error on -- I don't work well on limited sleep.
