I don't think anyone is bringing your personal hygiene into question. Its the norm for Americans to get snipped within a few days of birth..so the pain factor isn't really an issue. It's done pretty routinely here in the states. I have one brother that is, one that is not. With some it is a religious preference, with others it is hygiene. I can't say that one has had more or less problems than the other. Not that it really matters much, but we were nominally Catholic. It always bothered me that the humans involved - the male children - didn't get to have a voice in this matter. I so didn't catch that. The only experience I've had with circumcision is seeing my younger adopted brother laying in a crib strapped down around the age of one screaming in agony and pissing straight up into the air a lot after getting circumcised.
