You Can Now Post Images On The Board (Trial Run)

Jim suggested that we allow people to post images in threads for 30 days & see how it goes. Sounds like a good idea to me :)

So feel free to use the IMG tags, but please don't abuse them |couch|

Board is going to look great when the spammers post linked huge banners to their programs.

next week is the trial for the 800x600 sig banners.... :)

Greenguy 2009-07-29 02:02 PM

Now I remember why we didn't allow them:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=53771

Jim 2009-07-29 02:13 PM

We probably need to limit the size for it to really work. Then again, who the hell cares in the spam forum. :)

Greenguy 2009-07-29 04:03 PM

I think we should limit it to Chit Chat - we can do it on a forum by forum basis.

But let's give it a month & see how it goes - I'm not nearly as annoyed as I thought I'd be.....yet ;)

Ramster 2009-07-29 04:37 PM

It's not too bad but yes when a sponsor puts up 10 images or something stupid that is a bit annoying. At least the size didn't cause me to scroll my screen 10 different ways, lol.

Or, even worse, when someone decides to quote that person AND the 10 images they have posted. That drives me nuts.

LeRoy 2009-07-29 07:39 PM

Post your cock Useless. This may be your last chance to make a sweet exit :)

Jeremy 2009-07-29 07:43 PM

Excellent! At last we can have threads with cries of "This Thread Is Useless Without Pics!"

bluebrit 2009-07-30 07:33 AM

Why not limit posts to one pic and set quoted posts to nil on include images? That would take care of most of the problems that could come out of this. Other than that i like the idea although I doubt I'll post images very often.

Hmmm no sooner did i post that than I came across this thread.

http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=52207

I think that's a bit of overkill but that's just my opinion.

Not allowing it in products & services should take care of most of the issues.

Greenguy 2009-07-30 12:55 PM

We can't limit the number of pics or the size of the pics in a post. We can either turn them on or off for a forum.

Is this thread got anything to do with this thread |cool|

Maybe it's custome, but I do know that the zoo can't print everyone's names like Skippy does in their posts :)

You can if you allow pics through Attach Files instead of the IMG tag.

Here is my useless pic for this thread for today. |potleaf|

Cleo, whoever has the raft in their living room must be prepping for hurricane season.

Hey Blue, best pic so far!

Bluey 2009-08-01 03:03 AM

The zoo used to have something like this .js in the forum for over sized images i think, to keep things tidy.

PHP Code:

<!-- Resize images-->
<
scr11111pt type="text/javascript"
    function
resizeImages() {
      if (
document.images) {
        var
mw 700
        var
mh 8000
        for (var
ii 0ii document.images.lengthii++) {
          var
document.images[ii];
          var
iw i.width
          var
ih i.height
          if (
ih iw && ih mh) {

i.style.height mh 'px'
          } else if (
iw mw) {

i.style.width mw 'px'
          }
        }
      }
    }
    if (
window.addEventListener) {

window.addEventListener('load'resizeImagesfalse);
    } else if (
window.attachEvent) {

window.attachEvent('onload'resizeImages);
    } else {

window.onload resizeImages
    }
//-->
</scr1111pt>
<!--/
Resize images-->

Have replace the i with 11111 in the start and end script type= and script.

There is the odd occasion where it would be useful in the more serious boards for posts like "Help, every time I upload a new page to my site it comes out like this: (image of screenshot)".

Actually, using the function like that on the serious boards is probably a better use of it than posting pictures of knitted toys riding sheep etc.

InfoGuy 2009-08-01 11:24 AM

Can you set image posting permissions according to member stats? Older members or members with higher post counts would get image posting privileges, while new members or those with low post counts do not. It seems like that would address the potential problem with spam.

Doesn't everyone have an inflated raft in their living room?

NY Jester 2009-08-01 01:40 PM

^^^^

I prefer an AeroBed but I guess an inflatable raft will do the trick :)

Considering the amount of flooding we have had in Britain in the last year it would probably be a good idea over here. Particularly in Norfolk (Norfolk UK) where the government's idea on global warming is to let most of the county (over 100 square miles) become one big lagoon. Conservative estimates put that as happening within 20 years.

My dad has got a holiday home up there, right on the coast, so it will be first to go. Unfortunately he sold his raft about twelve years ago when he realised he had not used it in many years, and had got to the age when he doubted he ever would.

Cleo 2009-08-01 01:56 PM

The worst part is right after I finished inflating and then deflating the raft by hand the cordless electric pump arrived in the mail.

InfoGuy 2009-08-01 02:16 PM

Look on the bright side, at least you used a hand pump. It could have been worse, if you blew up the raft yourself.

Cleo 2009-08-01 02:52 PM

Could always fill it with nitrous oxide and have a deflating party.
