Cherry Picked Links, did you really need to copy my recip code?
Looks like you basically just copied my recip code and then changed a few things. |angry|
http://cherrypickedlinks.com/recips.html Fuck You! :( |
Yup, sure looks like the way you coded them. |lightsabe

Wow, I didn't see what your point was until I clicked one of his links and the new page loaded. Yes, he did change a few things. His are RED.
I get inspiration from people's sites because you want to follow the model of the successful, but damn, some folks out their just steal the source. Amazing. Someone should tell Cherry Picked that, in this case, imitation is not flattery, it's thievery. Cherry Picked Links|pissleft
New rule, Cherry Picked Links (cherrypickedlinks.com) recips are banned. You will not get listed if you have a recip to them.
www.cleoslinks.com/adult-links/submit.shtml Fucking thieving design code stealing low life. |angry

I ended up doing a whois on you and also looking to see what IP your were posting from after your earlier post. It really did look like you had Cherry Picked Links in your sig. It wasn't until I looked at what you had for a board sig and saw that you didn't have a board sig that I realized you aren't the owner of Cherry Picked Links. Sometimes it is difficult to know what a person really meant by reading their post. You need to be very clear in what you are posting or people are going to get the wrong idea of what it is you are trying to say. |
I now, it took me some time before I realized it. Even after plateman and surfn post.
The submit page on Cherry, link back to this board. Thought you guys know him. |hammer |
OK, this is my first post on this board. Hopefully not my last.
I wrote an email to Cleo shortly after she did this post. I apologized and acknowledged that copying her code was wrong. I offered to work things out with her and change the code. I did not hear back. I've now belatedly realized that I should go ahead and do the right thing unilaterally. I have changed my recips to a very simple table without any mouseover effect. http://www.cherrypickedlinks.com/recips.html I don't expect a medal for making this change. It would be nice if Cleo got rid of her rule banning my recips, but that is up to her. Hopefully I will be forgiven by Cleo, Danger Dave (who also banned me) and everyone else in the webmaster community. Until then: |couch

Well I'll be damned! I thought she was a bigger hard-ass than that. It was very good and honest of you to step up to the plate and admit that you had copied her code though. You can bet most others would have denied it to their graves and called it an odd coincidence.

Here's a question for everyone reading to ponder, not just Cleo.
If after someone admits he was wrong, apologizes and rectifies what he did -- and people still call him a "piece of shit" and ban him -- what is the incentive to do the right thing? The only incentive would be to follow his own conscience, which is ultimately what I did here. I have no regrets. But being this harsh to someone who is willing to own up to what he did is ultimately probably a poor life strategy. By unbanned I meant that Cleo apparently no longer has a rule that she will not list sites that have my recip on them. As to the "multiple nick submitter" thing, I have only ever used two nicknames for submitting, each of them associated with a different domain. I have not used them at the same time; I used one first then I stopped using it and adopted another. If there is some rule you are stuck with a nick for life I'd have been more careful to adopt one I really liked. |

You didn't offer to rectify the problem, you just offered to "work things out"... what was there to work out? Why didn't you just remove the offending code and then try and build bridges? |
