Anyone know this guy? I have been getting into email wars with him because it seems like he is just spamming every email address I have with link trades.

Last week it was a trade with gaypervs.com and wild-girls-tgp or something (which doesnt make sense) then he sends me an email about a site that is nothing but a feeder site and not even a tgp and wants to do a trade with me.

Anyone know this guy? Is he even remotely legit? Every email I get is verbatim, then when I ask him to stop emailing me he says he doesn't appreciate the way I told him to take me off his fucking list (those were my words after about 12 emails for link trades from this guy).

While I have no idea who he is, anyone with a nickname of "Rocco" should probably be avoided :D

He's from outside any of the circles I know.

I did a test link with him just to see how it went- he claimed he couldn't change the text of the link afterwards because "the script wouldn't let him".

Yeah, right.

Anyway, just block his email if you don't want any more of his harvested emails. He's using one of the shareware link-harvesting scripts that spiders domains.

That's what I thought I started blocking him today.

If you use different email addresses on your sites and in your whois info then I am sorry if you receive several emails. This does not seem to be a big deal as I am always using roccos@********.com which easily can be deleted or banned. However, I cannot take email addresses off of my list because there is no list.

I have to admit, at 1st I thought Rocco's post was a joke (one of you guys pulling everyone's leg & registering another account) but his IP is unique to the board, so I guess he's just as dumb as we all thought :D

I thought it was a joke too, altho I told the guy in email that he should read and introduce himself to webmaster boards, and mentioned GG&J.

I figure he's inexperienced, and that possibly this isn't his best language, so he doesn't realize that he's making a mistake by doing what he is doing.

yes i trust the guy, and some others who are longer in bizz then me also, i never had problems with him, oke, maybe a bit stupid with all the emails sending, but i get also alot of emails from others asking for linktrades, i myself never send emails for asking for trades, but till this time i have realy no problems with rocco, okeeeee some of you dont know me, so who am i to say yep you can trust him...............(i know i have to stay out of some threads..........just trying to help)|couch|

I'd like to vouch for Rocco.. he was never stupid.. just over zealous, ill informed and a non-native english speaker.

Rocco has a good understanding of what makes a good link trade, what makes a good site and can spot a scammer or spammer from 30,000 miles away. He is now also much better at dealing with people and understand's that link trading is sometimes a pain in the ass sideline issue for many webmasters and is not all that is needed to make a site a success.


I have to be honest and say he pissed me off at first with his endless follow up emails about links he wanted... and I know it pissed a lot of other people off as we spoke about him on ICQ... One thing most of us agreed upon though, was that Rocco was the most organised of all the psychotic link traders that popped up in 2004...

Anyway, I have partnered with Rocco to look after trades on all my domains as well as his (and maybe a couple of other people's too) He wont be asking anyone for link trades 99% of the time, he wont be sending follow up emails or chasing people.. but he will be monitoring everything just as closely as before and be able to see who is worth trading with on other sites. If you setup a trade with Rocco, you should be fairly sure you are not linking to any type of cheater and getting a better than fair trade every time.


I hope that anyone that has had a bad experience with Rocco in the past will consider giving him a second chance.. and if you still don't like the "new Rocco" you can come to me and bitch and even blame me.. I have a lot of faith that wont happen.

yeah been getting the same and been pissed he used my isp email when my wemasterat works and a few others have asked for link trades on this board and been kinda busy getting my stuff straight from a server change.. So I'll get back to them.

I know Rocco and he is a very good guy. I have many hard link trades with him. He even warns me if there is a problem in my sites! I think you can trust him!

I agree with Opti. I have had trades with Rocco for a while now, and haven't had any problems.

As for his "over zealousness", I just attribute that to someone who was at least trying to work his site. :)

I recently did a link exchange with Rocco and he was a pleasure to work with. If he's the same guy from May, he's learned a lot.

I've been trading with Rocco for a while too and have to say only good words.

I would never swap links with this person.... NOR with anyone that swaps links with him.

I'm not excusing his activity and if I got spammed with 12 mails probably would be pissed too. But so far all trades I set with Rocco were arranged thru boards so thats the reason why I said what I said.

well I havent traded with him because I dont approve of his contact scheme and IMHO he is using the board to build his link popularity up and not give anything back... IMHO - Now if such a person posted other than link trades that would be a differnt story..

there was a question in this thread if someone knows the guy, i only could say, yes i know him and i swapped with him, i never received email spam from him, and i also dont know what happend before, i only found out in this thread about the email spam, but i never had problems with him. I can understand the people who did got spammed.But it seems he learned alot lately because webmasters do swap links with him.|violin|

Exactly and if he harvested E-mails from the boards, or whatever method then he sure as shit knew what he was doing. Most newbies wouldn't just run right into harvesting e-mails I wouldn't think. Just for the shear fact the way he handled himself from day 1 with sending me garbage I would never trade with him.

Despite also being spammed by this person... the emails had nothing to do with my decision/opinion.

It is the SE practices of this person that make them a bad(and risky) link partner.

Don't just link blindly for PR!
Investigate your links swaps!
Be suspect of people that never post urls publically!
Look at who "ISN'T" linking to the person that wants the swap.. it will tell you alot about them

Why would I want my trades removed? Not sure if you got the names mixed up or what. When I started this thread sometime ago I was basicaly curious who this guy is. I don't know why you would even ask that. Clue me in, I must have missed something here.

Think it's time for me to post my own statement here on the board. The reason why I hesitated to reply to this thread is because I'm not a native speaker and am still working on my written English.

First of all I have to tell that I respect the sites and work of all of the persons who posted to this thread - doesn't matter if it was in a positive or even negative way. I also respect all personal opinions. And thankyou very much for the kind words Robert, I have great respect for your opinion.

I never understood AcidMax's reason for starting this thread and ridicule someone who had done very helpful things for him - Acidmax seems to be very ungrateful and unaware even of how poor his site layout is. I didn't try and tell him this.. I just gave him trades that he would think are more than fair.. or that he should have realised were good.

What I could have done when Acidmax started this thread is to point out that he appears to be a cheater but that is just what people posting here want to do to me without having any good reason to say it and I do not think this a fair way to be.

This is how "smart" webmaster's often steal good trades for bad trades.. AcidMax places his trades so far down a page that the trades are never indexed..

Some webmasters do this on purpose... I am not sure Acidmax did it for this reason, it appeared he simply did not know enough about how a linktrade can be good and how it can be bad.

That was in March... when I next spoke to Acidmax a couple of months later i was given just very unfriendly words like:

- fuck you
- idiot
- etc.

And he posted this thread to hurt me further if he could.

I hoped that Acidmax would learn with time he had made a mistake. But he still says here now I do wrong 6 months later that that again? I don't have any understanding why he wants to call me a bad person to trade with in public now? I have never even removed the trades I gave him back in March.


People post saying I have harvested e-mails from this board I think they say? Opti asked me how I worked and knows how I contact people. He said there was nothing wrong with my system that anyone could call bad. I find websites that look like good trading opportunities.. find the webmaster e-mail on the site or by whois.. and contact people. I also follow up by ICQ to everyone I can. I can see no reason for anyone who has talked to me to think I do not work hard and honestly.

About DangerDave and GreenGuy I can't tell anything as I neither had never talked to them nor had any problems with them; but I must also say that they probably don't understand really what I did in the past and how I work now. But I respect their opinions.

To everybody I have trades already - thanks a lot! I hope you are all happy, if not please contact me and I will make sure I do what is needed to fix any problem.

First off if you look at the original post it is from way back when you spammed me Rocco and not once have I complained about any trades in this thread or any other. I think you might want to get your facts straight.

I responded with those words after about 5-8 spam emails with the exact same text and each time I would tell you to stop sending me an email. After so many spams of course I am going to get pissed off.

When I started this thread months ago it was to ask who you were, and get people's advice, you responded with another spam post at that time. I have not touched that thread until a couple days ago when I responded to Jim's statement.

Lastly I never called you a cheater, I said you were a spammer, Opti even said your tactics were over the top. My trades are down at the bottom of the page, just as many many other link lists are. At this point I think the trades should be removed. Don't really care to argue with you any further its a waste of time and energy. I didn't rebump this thread someone else did. I didn't do anything or even think about this thread until it got bumped. I will take a look at all my trades and remove yours from my list.

I am getting to be real sorry that I brought this back up:( I had just received an email and when I searched the board the thread came up so I thought I would see what ever came of it.

I have since have had contact with Rocco but in the end decided not to trade because I am unfamiliar with trades that link to one site and return from another.

But I am sorry that I re-opened this can of worms. And hope in the end it all works out for the better.

So Acid Max... can you tell us if you put your Trades on the page like that to cheat people or because you didn;t have enough knowledge to know that was useless to the other party trading?

Either way any intelligent person can see you are a bad trade option just from that evidence.. but you might still need to locate that clue to understand that.

I'm staying way the hell away from this pissing match, but I do have to say that I have a ton of trades with Rocco, and I consider him to be one of my best trading partners.

OK this is really my last post on this thread, because its getting out of hand.

1. No one is whining on my end. I am responding to posts with my name in them.

2. You are putting words in my mouth that I never said. I never said anything bad about you (Opti) at all, but you have felt the need to come after me and make comments related to physical threats. My posts have always been towards Rocco's method for collecting trades.

3. As far as my link trades are concerned there was no cheating involved. As a matter of fact I look at many of your sites and your trades are at the bottom as well. It's common practice on many link lists to have their hard link trades at the bottom.

4. Not once have I ever, nor will you ever hear me say that I know everything or alot of things about link lists. I started mine approx 1 year ago and I am working on making it grow, so far I have been successful thanks to help from other large link list owners. Maybe you know more about link lists and traffic generation than I do, thats great. I probably know more about programming than you do, either way it doesn't bother me, there is always someone more knowledgable.

As I said before I think at this point it would be better to remove our trades with each other and end the whole thing. If you want to communicate with me directly in the future about the link trades you can do so via my e-mail address.
