I Was Feeling Nostalgic.....
 

Most of you know I'm moving & I really do have a lot of other shit to do, but something made me feel nostalgic yesterday. Let me 1st set this up:

In May/June 1996, one of my best friends from high school came home from college (RIT in Rochester) & showed me his webpage, which got me started down this Greenguy path. But in 1997 we wanted to do a site together, so we bought a domain & some content. The idea was to build free sites & galleries. Someone had a sale for 5000 pics for $99 or something, so we bought it & it had to be the worst content we'd ever seen. It was so bad, that all we could do was laugh at it. Neither of us really had money at the time, and since we basically had to use the content, we thought we might as well have a little fun with it :D

Something made me think of the site yesterday & since I still had all the files on my PC, I re-registered the domain & threw everything back up there.

This makes me think of something I do every day when I come to the board. I open the Contact Info of everyone having a birthday and then I click on the Home Page link if there is one. Nine-eight percent go to parking pages or time out but a few have sites chugging along and some even have that late 1990s look like zippy-blamo. I love it!

Zippy is a brilliant & deranged guy I've known since 7th grade & was the one that got me to first read Hitchhiker's |couch| He dabbled in adult for a bit, mostly buying & selling domains (his big one was he registered wildcherry.com & sold it for $17k or so a couple years later), then he was doing mainstream SEO (remember when those "How To..." pages were big?) He day-trades now & makes a decent living. I see him once or twice a year & I'm looking forward to our buddy's stag in 2 weeks |banana|
