Question for Cleo

I have a question for Cleo. I am new at this and I want to thank you for giving me a few listings. I received quite a few hits from them. The last few I submitted to you did not get listed and I started wondering why.

So, I went and looked at your rules again. I noticed that you do not accept counters on your pages. I then went and look at the rules of the other 50 or so sites I am submitting to and looked at their rules. I could not find another major site that did not allow counters. Maybe there are and I just do not know.

Being new at this I started with a small hosting package that will upgrade automatically as required bandwidth grows. One of the major problems I am experiencing is the stats I am able to get from my server. They are not real time and only update every 12 hours, but even worse than that they fail to even let me know where all my hits are coming from, only the top 100 or so. They do not provide any information on hits on a daily basis at all. So, my ability to grow my site with such terrible stats is somewhat limited at best.

So my question, is there a solution to this issue? Are you able to build a site that’s meets or exceeds the rules and requirements of all the sites accepting listing and still meet the information needs of your business?

As a long time viewer of this material I hated all the BS that went on in the industry. I have built my sites with no misleading content and will continue to do so. It has gone quite well, much better than I expected stating out. I look forward to any and all advice on this issue.

Thanks for the help, Bill

You will find that most of the larger LL do not allow counters.

About the only solution is to get hosting with decent stats.

Thanks FTS,
My server has it, but its the demo version. With most the features turned off. I emailed them ask the to get the real one and they said no. Oh well.
Thanks again, Bill

I use AWStats and it does pretty well...I would like a little better tracking of referring urls(for search engine purposes), but it's ok.

There's a demo version of AWstats? I've never seen that. The only thing I'm even aware that can be shut off is the 'update from browser' feature. Hell, I managed to install it on my server by myself and I'm fairly clueless. (It only takes about one minute) I'd search for a new host. There's one around every corner. Sometimes two.
