Opinions On The New LOR index.html Page

I was grabbing some banners from the affiliate program for Ashley Madison & I noticed how they did the background on their index page, so I thought I'd see what it looks like on the Link O'Rama index page using my color scheme.

Opinions?

Thanks |shake|

I also threw it up on the Main Link O'Rama Page just for shits & giggles - not sure if I like it on there.

Looks cool but not sure how readable it would be to someone with marginal vision.

Scary, but I think I like it. It does draw the eye into the center of the dark area. I agree with you on the main page. Just for the giggles, I asked my husband what he thought. He said he likes it on the index but he prefers the solid black background everywhere else. He's just one small cut above a regular surfer, but he does know what he likes.

I find it a little bright.

I also tried it out on the banner/table I'm using to promote them & it looks ok. It's the 2nd ad on here:

To me it seems interesting and yet annoying all at the same time |huh

It made my eyes hurt and I couldn't look at the page long. I'd be one of those with the marginal vision. If I was a surfer, I'd be hesitant to go back to that page, I'd bookmark another without it on your site. I have cataracts, and that really messes with my head.

Yah a bit bright...

But I could get used to it though

My opinions is that the way Ashley Madison uses it, and the way you used it on your ad for them, works well. That's because in those two examples the center is completely filled with something else and the effect is barely noticeable around the margins of the item that someone is actually focusing on. I think some effects work much better when they're not so noticeable.

+1

It gave me a headache just looking at it for a few seconds.

It's an interesting effect, and it might look good if the neon green was toned down. But as it is now, if I was a surfer and I came across your site for the first time, I'd click off that page and not come back.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one, I'm the same way with red text on blue. If the neon green was toned down, less of a contrast, it might not have hurt so much.

Make the light color less aggressive ;) Generally no opinion on this, I especially like your banner tables |thumb

The 'visited' links are barely visible here. I was an effort to find the 'enter' link. All in all, too much green for me. Eye catching, though...just not in a good way.

Greenguy 2012-10-24 02:13 PM

You anti-neon people would have been blinded by the original Link O'Rama that was on AngelFire as it had Fuschia text on a Lime background:

|haha

I changed around the index page so that it's not nearly as bright - I think I'll start a new poll :D
