Saturday August 18th (Sauna time!)

Yep, today is sauna day across much of Finland. Most people now have those electric stoves, but ours is the treasured old-school wood fired stove. It does take longer to heat up and it is more work, but it is such a difference! I guess this is what happens in a place that doesn't have cable tv or many movie theaters. Finns get together and go to the sauna. Heck, Anthony Bourdain even went with Sami Yaffa on their No Reservations show. I have a day of cooking and cleaning both before and after. Homemade baked mac and cheese with pulled pork and bacon... can't wait...

I may get some work done. Will have to see on that... kind of hard to work on porn with the inlaws underfoot.

Good morning |waves|

No saunas here, well it will be hot if that counts :D

Had to drive wife and daughter to the airport at 4am so I came home and here I am working away. Daughter is back to Los Angeles for year 3 of her 4 year college program and wife went with her this year to get her settled in, last year we both went but with the cost of college I couldn't afford to go to |lol| Okay well I didn't want to, too busy right now with sites I NEED to finish before the end of the month plus mother daughter will be fun.

I'm going to need more coffee |coffee

Good morning,

Finally a day of relative "rest" here. The demolition job has been taking too much of my time this year. I'm turning down work as we speak. Too much work, too little time. Good for the wallet, not so good for family life. Time to take the foot off the gas pedal.

Other than that all is great :D

Morning! |waves|

Yesterday can be summed up with 2 pics:

1 - I spent 4 hours trimming this window & everything was already cut & painted:

Trust me when I say it looks MUCH MUCH SHITTIER in person. Bottom & sides are good, but the top is |facepalm|

2 - I again went to the fair:

Today may be a repeat of yesterday...

Let's just say my baked mac and cheese was about 99% perfect. A tad more dry than I like, but the Husband and his dad each had a huge plate and seconds. I think it was the crispy bacon crumbled into the dish as well as on top. Bacon always makes it for me.

Good Morning :)

I had my first solid sleep in nearly 2 weeks |banana|

It felt so good I want to go back to sleep :)

We were suppose to take grandson on a glass bottom boat ride but due to my issues I had to back out but at least my wife will still take him. During that time I will probably try to squeeze in some work before they return.

Other than this it will be more relaxing as I still have pain but it's very manageable at the moment.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Put it in the sauna|lol|

Sauna will bake it even more dry. They often cook sausages in the sauna (we have a few times), so it is a great dry oven.

Our cat just wandered out after her visit to the sauna.. too funny.

I thought you poured water over hot rocks or something to make it steamy in there?

Pagan 2018-08-19 07:34 AM

Most of the time in the sauna, it is dry. Periodically, we throw water on the stones to raise the humidity briefly, but it also lowers the temperature. You never see the steam like you would in a steam bath, and any steam is gone very quickly. I would say we do dry sauna probably 80% of the time, and wet (water on the rocks) about 20%. Our cat visits the sauna too, but doesn't stay that long. She usually parks herself in there while the sauna is heating, and then after we get out and it has cooled down a bit.
