New Watermark Promo Affiliates?

Had an affiliate email me:

---
Affiliate: Do you accept new watermark promo affiliates? I have 19k subs on XVideos!

Me: Do you mean where you take our videos, put your own watermark on them & then post those on XVideos? If so, sorry but no we don't allow for our content to be rebranded like that.

Affiliate: Even if you own the domains and just re-direct to my link code?

Me: You didn't mention that part lol. Can I see an example of how you're doing it with another site/program?

Affiliate: Oh yeah, no problem:

Been working with Duke Dollars and Dirty D for awhile now...

I have 19k subscribers on Xvideos and I upload to a bunch else, basically I just use whatever clips you want to give me and make either 5 minute clips or do mini-compilations of like 5x1 minutes or whatever...

As long as I upload fairly steadily, the sales come in consistently over time.

---

My big problem is that he removed the site's watermark completely but we'd own the domain, so.....

I guess what I'm asking is this normal these days?

Very creative. I supposed with the tubes having a hammer lock on traffic, this is a way for affiliates to survive. As to whether it's normal, you know I have no idea. Owning the domain certainly puts you in control.

So no one else has heard of this? Should I ok it?

I see it all the time to be honest. Most programs have a very very clear statement that you may NOT remove their watermarks from the pictures or videos, even if you point back to them. They paid for the content, it is part of their branding. I think it is very dishonest both to the sponsor and the visitors, and nothing short of a blind link. If you put in any of his domain names, they instant refresh to the paysite. There is no mention that you will be going anywhere and there is NO mention or bannering for the original paysite. Sleazy. And no, I would not be okay with it on any level.

What about when he doesn't renew his domain for some reason, then there's a lot of your videos with his watermark that do not go anywhere.

JOlly

This is my standard POV on this.

We'd own the domain.

My other question on it.... if he is editing the clips to remove your watermark and add in his branding, what else is he adding? I am not accusing him of anything at all, just saying that the door opens too wide to have something malicious added, at your expense. Creative, but, well, sleazy.

I don't like it, then again I'm old :)

When I was a kid we had to buy content from third party producers, hand code our own pages to sell other peoples sites and then submit to 100 TGP/LinkLists...AND...We Liked It!
