90 Day Challenge: Building a Micro-Niche Porn Blog

If anyone's interested i'm starting a 90 day challenge on my blog to detail how i build my micro-niche porn blogs.

I'll be building a new micro-niche blog from scratch with the goal of making it to #1 in Google within 90 days and i'll be revealing exactly how i research and select a potentially profitable keyword, how i setup and structure the site, how i'm able to rank quickly in Google, and finally (and hopefully) how i begin to make money from it.

You can read more about the challenge and follow the progress at my blog.

Well I hope you'll throwe us an update bone here every once in a while, so we at least know when it's worth our while to click the link to your blog.

If you pick an obscure keyword it is pretty easy to end up in number one.

My two week old snorkeling blog is on Google's first page for the phrase "south Florida beach snorkeling" without even trying and it's only on a .info domain.

Sure, and maybe it will only take me 2 weeks, or maybe i won't make it at all. Either way it's more about the journey than the destination and showing how i do things and what i've learned.

Hi David, I admire you for sharing your ideas in public |thumb btw. Are you going to use freesites as a link support tool?

davidbenedek 2011-09-10 04:45 AM

Thanks Jeremy. I haven't used freesites in the past and i don't think i'll be using them for this challenge. My ideas on linking are a little different than most i think and i'll be posting an article about this during the challenge.

davidbenedek 2011-09-11 06:45 AM

Ok, so the second post is up for my 90 Day Challenge. In this post i reveal my keyword and i show how i do my keyword research.

Check it out here.

Hope you enjoy :)

davidbenedek 2011-09-18 06:37 AM

Ok, part 3 is up, you can check it out here.

This is just a basic post showing how to setup a wordpress blog so if you already have sites up you can probably skip this one.

However I do talk about the plugins i use and give a small status update on my challenge site so just skip to the bottom if you want to check that out.

Next week will get a bit deeper when i talk about why i structure my blogs differently than most other porn blogs.

Cheers.

Good update..

faxxaff 2011-09-22 09:54 AM

Maybe this could be a nice guide for newbies.
Good luck.

davidbenedek 2011-09-22 09:56 AM

Yeah, i'm hoping the next couple of updates might give a few new ideas to experienced webmasters as well ;)

Nice job, I'm not certain I'm understanding the significance of the url shortname tool. Surfers that are savvy enough to mouse over or check the toolbar, may be reluctant to click an unknown link.

davidbenedek 2011-10-11 05:39 AM

Well it's 30 days in and Part 4 of the 90 Day Challenge is up on my blog, you can read it here

In this post i talk about how and why my site is structured quite differently than the typical adult blog, as well as why i think a lot of common perceptions about how an adult blog should be setup are making you spend a lot more time and work a lot harder for your money.

Cheers, David

There's a few reasons i use it...

1. I don't think the amount of people that wouldn't click on a cloaked link is enough to worry about.
2. It allows me to track the clicks on particular links
3. If i want to change a link that is on my site 100 times i just have to edit the 1 cloaked link
4. With the pro version i can automatically replace keywords with links

Actually, i think if anything more people would be reluctant to click on a link that was http: //refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA=XXXXXX-0000&PA=XXXXXXX&HTML=http://etcetc.com/792090889882343. etc.

Plus it makes the links on your own domain so it just looks like your link is going to another page on your site..

i.e http: //website.com/website

Your blog is down. All I'm getting are headers and opening/closing HTML, head and body tags. In my experience that usually means a CGI error (bad script or not enough processing power to deal with the number of CGI calls your server is getting).

No i definitely do that, i just wrote them like that to make the example of what they would see in the toolbar when they mouseover

Very good points David, thanks for sharing. I will try to build something like this. The first thing that comes on mind is choose some suitable photogalery (separate page), some WP plugin, or easy PHP SW. I'll check fulltext, I belive there are many good tools...

May I ask you, if you're strictly against submissions to blog directries? Of course, that many outgoing links on the main page is not the best idea, but on the other side, smart linking in Blog Submitter is non direct (ABC) and it requires only 8 links. All these dirs are pretty well estabilished and they're giving some power to the domain in Google's eyes imho...

Probably not a good idea to use this service. Their "find trades" login has been coming up "under maintenance" for about a year now, and their list of sponsors contains several dead links. I would guess the people behind it have given up and fucked off, and although the form may be working, you are liable to find that you have populated your blog with a lot of dead links - which pisses off your surfers, looses bookmarks, and (I am told) attracts Google's Panda to your site.

I've got a big post coming in the next few days about my linking strategies.

Jeremy82 2011-10-24 08:29 AM

David, does it have any sense to make separate sub-page instead of regular blog post (just asking...)?
