godaddy hosting...?

i saw you all talking in another thread saying that godaddy sucks for adult. i use them on some of my sites and dont seem to have any issues. so i was wondering if those that think godaddy is not good for adult would elaborate a bit for me in this thread? thanks.

more than likely a breach of their terms

From their hosting agreement:

You agree not to engage in unacceptable use of any Services, which includes, without limitation, use of the Services to:

disseminate or transmit any material that, to a reasonable person may be abusive, obscene, pornographic, defamatory, harassing, grossly offensive, vulgar, threatening or malicious;

From their Universal TOS:

Except as set forth below, Go Daddy may also cancel Your use of the Services, after thirty (30) days, if You are using the Services, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion, in association with spam or morally objectionable activities. Morally objectionable activities will include, but not be limited to:

activities that are tortuous, vulgar, obscene, invasive of the privacy of a third party, racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable;

So host with them at your own risk

i have few hosting at godaddy too.Not had any problem with servers and everything was stable and up.But when appear some little issues regarding others (hotlinking,scumbags who steal your content ..etc) they are complete fucked up.The online support is the worst and make from godddy a shitty company in my oppinion.I ALLWAYS received from them only pathetical answers like "sorry we cannot assist you" in every email sent.No kind of real support from the smart ass tech guys even for small questions they only use copy and paste with non-handwriten text.

Quality hosting pays for itself. It amazes me how many people in this business just don't seem to grasp the concept that you need to spend a little money to make money.

When I first started I used GoDaddy. For static freesites, it was OK, but when I tried to install my first script I had problems. The support people basically told me they did not support any third party app, including scripts.

Also, there were some reports of them seizing domains and shutting down those that didn't meet their tos. I think it's best to avoid them.

That concept is not likely to change anytime soon...

To many other good options to even consider taking a chance with godaddy.

I will never understand why for such an insignificant savings rather than support the industry that supports you, people go outside the industry to hosts that will turn them off and not work with them if there are any issues (or why people ignore those TOS's and then complain if they are shut down).

Beyond selecting an adult host for their support of the industry they will also be familiar with issues that affect adult clients and how to assist them with industry specific problems.

Finally I agree with Toby. It has always surprised me how many clients experienced an significant increase in clients when they switched to a quality host just due to the increased performance and responsiveness of their site.

Hope that helps!

Hmmm... Now That Makes Me Think. The Tech Support Definetly Does Suck,. They Wouldn't Even Update Zend Optimizer When I Needed It For My Tube Script.

I Have Been Using Them For A Few Years For A Bunch Of Regular (Non Adult) Sites And Never Really Had Any Problems Until Recently. So I Honestly Never Even Questioned It Being A Problem When I Started letswatchsomeporn.com.

Even Way Back When I Ran Primo Teens TGP I Never Payed Attention To That In Hosting.
Lesson Learned

Rookies |huh

I for one have always been a bit leery of keeping all my eggs in one basket so to speak....

Meaning mainly I'd never really want to have my Registar AND my host to be the same, it just screams trouble lol

Bob Parsons has spoken out VERY publicly about his "dislike" of our industry and then uses "sex" in his ad spots, and not only that he plays to the fact that "some" of his ads were "too hot for TV"

So when HE does it it's fine and dandy, but WE ARE EVIL? yeah I try to stay away from that sort of thing on principle alone lol

Id move away from there as quick as i could.
Is it worth the gamble for you to loose your business when Parsons decides your the enemy?
