For your music I will miss you.
For beating your wife and a cop along with your theft conviction, good riddens.

My 1st concert ever was James Brown, in 1970. I was 15.. and probably 1 of 20 beige folks at that concert in Huntsville Alabama.

2nd time I saw him like 15 years later at the Paladium in NYC..we had 3rd row seats.. but i'd just gotten in from London and fell asleep about a 1/3 of the way thru. I was deaf for 4 days.

Those of us who appreciate his music will miss him.

I can forgive the theft thing, shit he was like 16 yrs old and like most people at that age just a dumbass who did not know any better. The cop thing I can also forgive to some extent, sometimes a cop does deserve a wake up call on how they treat people. But with that said who knows how James was acting at the time being he was on drugs and prob freaking out. Shit hard enough to understand the guy when he is sober I can only imagine the cop thinking James said "come get it" when he really said "one minute' lol. But the wife beating thing, that's hard for me. I never understood any man who beats a woman. In my mind there are times when a woman deserves a beatdown, but that's only if she is comming at you with something pointy or blunt. I always felt that if you feel like you need to hit your woman to get your point across, then maybe you should rethink your point.
From an old drummers stand point the music will live on and be loved. Some of the funkiest shit he had his drummers play had me scratching my head for months trying to figure out, but once I did my skills went up 10 fold. But anyway I think there is an episode of future-rama where his head is alive in a jar, that would be nice.
