Women and adult films: The stigma continues
...a growing number of women that have discovered erotic films can have a profound and favorable effect on their lady parts, and statistics show it’s a larger number than previously believed.

No Tickler, we all know that women aren't visual and they don't buy porn!

Most likely the Examiner woman read Violet's CNN/Oprah article: http://edition.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/p...watching.porn/

Note how they linked to Pure Life Ministries but not Tony Comstock.

I wonder if male teen sites are as popular with women as teen girl sites are with men. probably not except with school teachers.

If someone was to go out on a limb and shoot some porn for ladies featuring hunky naked men washing dishes and vacuuming floors, that would probably be a cool niche.

On a side note, who is a good sponsor for "for ladies" softcore featuring college-age guys? My wife always says she wants to write, so I've got her convinced to do a "for ladies" blog.

I've always wondered if women like gay porn...I mean guys like lesbians..(?)

(I need to get out more, probably...:) )

Ms Naughty 2009-07-29 08:23 PM

There are a lot of women who do like gay porn, apparently. As for teen boys... so often they're marketed as "twinks" and seem like they'd come at the blink of an eyelid. To me, that's not so sexy :D

ecchi 2009-07-30 01:08 AM

A few years back Britain's main satellite porn channel released it subscriber stats, and just over half of the people who paid for the service (I think it was 53%, but I'm not certain) were women.

Every year we have two major porn expos in Britain (ie where British and European porn companies come to advertise and sell their wares, with a high budget sex show and a few smaller seminars and shows to attract the paying punters). I go to the London one every year, and there are usually more women among the paying public than there are men. And if I stretch that to straight men only (the event caters for both straight and gay porn), I'd say there are about twice as many women as straight men.

See the Purple Dollars sig above you nate. Purple Dollars/For the Girls rocks!

And if she is doing a "for ladies" blog she'll want to check out Ssssh.com (Spice Cash) and Velvet Ecstasy has nice couples stuff. some women like audio type stuff as well so she might like Sensual Words.

And have her contact me and we'll set up some link exchanges. :)

I'm a straight male, but I have to confess that I like some of the porn for women. Not the naked guy stuff, but the straight sex. It's usually very well made.

Ms Naughty 2009-07-30 07:50 PM

I should say that well made, realistic straight sex porn should be a niche in itself, made for both men and women. And it is extremely rare!

Did that include the Home Secretary? :-))

It's a shame none of the monster programs or content producers will understand that. I think the reason classic porn allegedly sells well is because people like me are longing to see some simple sucking and fucking. I cannot understand why every scene shot today has to have anal, squirting, cum play, as well as some level of abuse.

I think the trouble lies more with the business being dominated by men who think they know what other men want. Alternatively it could be more of a what sells for you will sell for me approach, that has us in an endless spiral of porn that looks the same. |huh

:) No way of telling, since if it did her subscription would have come directly from the MP's expenses department.

No Useless - thank gwad that none of the monster programs or content producers understand that - let the small guys have at least one angle that the big guys ignore.

About the only major program that comes to mind is Private who actually makes full length videos with a plot.
ie: Lady of the Rings

God, there is a blast from the past. I remember in the good old days before Internet (late 70's I think) when (illegal) copies of their magazines were the only hardcore you could get over here. I always reckoned it was education not porn, because they were sold all over Europe, so around the photos you had the same text repeated in several different languages. I never actually read the text but if I had been more conscientious I guess I would now be multi-lingual and be able to say, in several European languages, "Oh no, my dress has come off. Quickly - let me suck your penis."

It's pretty obvious, the why part, I think - 'cos once the line is crossed, it's hard to go back. Think about it: once you've fucked, you don't usually hear about people going back to protracted make-out sessions, right? Once certain forms of gonzo hit the market, it makes it difficult to put that genie back in the bottle - it became expected. I also think that there is a certain level of concern, at a subconscious level, that if backtracking is done, gains in what's acceptable will be lost. [That is wildly speculative on my part, by the by]

AMEN. For the love of squishy little squids, I know it's difficult, but there are people who like to watch the whole movie. There are folks that would love to see an actual feature-style movie - with strong actors and good plot that just happens to have fucking instead of a smashcut and fade to [next scene]. I cannot tell you how many times I've thought "I wanna watch {MOVIE TITLE}, but I wish that sex scene was full-on."

Patti 2009-08-11 10:16 PM

Hey now. This is my first post but I am a 40 year old woman who is addicted to porn. lol. I buy about 15 videos a month have 100's of toys and just plain enjoy it. I'm getting ready to start my own porn site next month. lol. So yes there are woman who like and buy porn. lol IM ONE!!

Simon 2009-08-12 07:22 AM

Patti - Please don't open a porn site. We have too many adult webmasters and nowhere near enough surfers who buy a porn video every other day each month and have purchased hundreds of sex toys. Please remain a surfer who buys porn and toys. Seriously, most adult webmasters with any sense have already left or are making plans to leave. Stay a porn surfer. Really, you'll do the world a lot more good.

:)

My wife's girlfriend orders porn through her cable company. She prefers laying in bed with her vibrator and big flat screen TV. She says feel dirty when she is totally naked in front of the computer.

When things get tough the better workers (that is smarter workers not harder workers) survive. Those that are not so good and were only making money because there was a lot of cash around, and even an idiot could make a good living, are the first to find their profits dwindle to unsustainable levels. In short it is not "webmasters with any sense" who have/are going, it is those without enough sense to be able to run a successful campaign in hard times. This recession will sort the men from the boys (or girls from the women) and we will get rid of a lot of surplus idiots, the better webmaster will still be here in ten years time (unless they make enough money to retire, or leave for personal reasons).

And that will give one big advantage for those of us who are certified geniuses. Once the idiots who think all they have to do to make money is throw up a few free porn sites, then sit back and count the money are gone, there will be less free porn about, and it will be easier to sell stuff again. But that won't be for several years yet - so those of us still here are going to have to work smarter in the meantime.

So Patti, I know that Simon was only being funny, but seriously: If you have what it takes, if you can think about how to make sales, know all about successful advertising (or intend to learn), then welcome to the world of running adult websites, it will be hard work, but can be very profitable. And most of the people in this business are very friendly (with a few exceptions). So you should have fun and make money. But if you think that all you have to do is throw up some free pictures/videos, bung on some sponsor's banners, and do a bit of traffic trading, then you are wasting your time. If that is the case, pretend Simon is not joking and take his advice.

On a personal note, I look forward to the time when all the idiots have gone and we geniuses can begin having intelligent intellectual discussions on this board. Anyone want to start with a debate on the social implications of the works of Proust? :)
