Recip Table Styling

I've noticed some people use recip tables with a standard styling applied instead of using each link list's button or html table link. For example:

Is this generally acceptable to link list owners? It looks cleaner and makes a lot more room for links without adding alot of vertical space -but it's also less eye grabbing --which, based on some of the whacky colors and flashing scrolling buttons and effects they use for their recips --is counter to the link list owners' intent of grabbing eyes and presumable clicks...

I wonder -- are link list owners looking primarily for clicks with their recips or hard links for the search engines? Will using a standardized recip table like the one linked make it harder to get by the submission process of most link lists?

I've only ever used custom recips, like the table you showed, and I've never had a problem with it.

As for what a LL owner wants, that's up to each LL.

If you see a recip table like that listed at a LL it's a fair guess that they accept tables like that. |thumb Click each link and see if they all have sites listed with similar recip tables. Only takes a few minutes.

I switched to that style recip a year or so ago, and have never been rejected for recip style. amf, i think a lot of reviewers prefer that style, especially if you have 12 or more recips.

The one thing I had about that is the Penisbot text not matching up with everything else - so many people try to make everything look the same & fuck it up - or they're lazy (no offense - not trying to bash you :))

But for the overall question, I'm fine with it.

Same here. I switched to text recips about 10 free sites ago :)

I do like the flashy ones though. In that case I like to use 9-12 because it looks cleaner than the 20.

On the other hand my better selling free sites have 20 flashy recips.

Ugly sells for me for some odd reason. |huh

From a submitter's POV - I only use custom recip tables. But I also adhere to the rules of what words are linked and if they use "title" etc

From a reviewer's POV - I prefer them because that shows me the person doing the submit has taken some time to at least, hopefully followed the rules. But all in all Im OK with either or.

Most link lists are ok with that.
I prefer non-category recips for my link list if you are going to go custom.

Extreme Porno (title="Extreme Porno")
@ PornoXP (title="Free Porn Sites") with the underlined part linked.

I just switched to that style, doing fine so far.

I have been doing the custom text recips for about 6 months now, and have only had one smaller LL gig me for it. What I do is much like NY Jester - I do a custom text version of their button, make sure I have the anchor text the way the recip page reads, and try to stay very balanced. When most of the sites on the table have categories, I try to make the non-categorized ones blend in. It always seemed like the smaller the LL and lower their traffic, the bigger and flashier their recips were.

I've been doing custom recips like this for years without issues. I use style sheets and create a style called "recips" and code everything that is linkable for the LLs with that style. That way, I can change the colors on my table and recip links with changing two bits of code. |thumb

I too give everyone a text link, and put title tags like they want, or add a title tag if they have an image alt tage. Since I use a css style, everyone is the same font, etc. Only difference is if someone has a bunch of little text in between the links, I put that font size 1 so they aren't huge compared to the rest.

I don't know why every LL wouldn't want this, it looks so much cleaner on a page...more professional. And since I build only one "doorway" I put more recips than most do and it doesn't look as bad.

I recently started with a table like that, looks so much better.
I submitted a couple of days ago and the fast guys, LoR and SmutGremlins, already accepted my sites.
It was a pain to make the table, but I can use it over and over again, so it is totally worth it.
