BlogRolls and Finding Relevant Blogs

One thing that people tend to forget to do is use a blogroll. While addressing this issue the folks at Problogger recommended Dave Risley’s Six Figure Blogger Blueprint. Dave provides a .pdf file and audio. I downloaded both and followed along while listening to the audio. I have been blogging for 10 years and I picked up a few things that have helped with both traffic and conversions.

Points 12 and 13 are respectively, Start Connecting (via Twitter, Facebook and other social media) and Find Relevant Blogs (read and comment).

I am having a difficult time finding relevant blogs where commenting is accepted. Yeah you can add a thoughtful, on-topic comment BUT the blogger will either delete it or never allow through moderation.

Any one read and comment on other blogs? Have success with blogrolls?

Thanks for the link PhoneMistress. I have it downloading now. The full program he is selling is over 6gig. Also I have an old phone sex blog that I haven't updated in years if you need something linked up. ;)

I am way too cheap to purchase anything. I just downloaded the free stuff. Normally I wouldn’t even do that but I have never been steered wrong with ProBlogger. Glad to see you are finding it useful. I am sending a pm.

When I began blogging with blogspot some years ago (too many) it was like the wild west...

Everybody commented (as in spammed their urls lol) on each others blog - I'm talking porn soft and hard...

I certainly did and would spend a couple of hours doing it...

Back then I made good mates and contacts by not being too spammy...

However nowadays I have found 99% of comments from so called "fellow bloggers" on my blogs are 100% spam - their blog/splog url or whatever...

To that end I let akismet deal with them...

I also think that nowadays in porn in particular most bloggers view comments from other webmasters with a high degree of suspicion - I certainly do lol...

Where do you draw the line..?

Blogger comes to your blog (one of 1000 he hits that night) writes "hot babe I love her" - leaves his url...

You approve it - is that not a free link back for him..?

If it isn't why do people do it..?

I'm torn on this one - I like to see contact from my surfers - and like to give half decent blogs a mention where appropriate...

I have contact forms on most blogs that actively encourage bloggers/webmasters etc to contact me...

But spam is like walking into your house uninvited and turning over the TV...:)

I think flip's been blogging for a year or so longer than I. I started blogging just a few months before joining this forum.

When I got into it there seemed to be two camps. Those that wrote things that actually stimulated the intellect as well as the loins and those that wrote nothing but posts of sales text after sales text.

The first camp were highly suspicious of the second camp and it was a lot of work to gain their trust enough to actually get them to blog roll you or even not delete your comments.

The second camp are you typical porn mongers. Distrustful of everyone and everything. Convinced that the link in their blog roll that got clicked actually cost them a sale. They would only do link exchanges figuring they gave you one of their sales, you would give them one of yours back.

Unfortunately, the second camp got into mass production (its a lot easier to write a bunch of shitty sales text than to think out an intelligent blog post, although many of those who read my early blog posts would argue there wasn't much intelligence there) and adult blogs, today, are mostly crap.

Other than me waxing nostalgically, this post does have a point. In today's adult blogging environment it is almost impossible to find blogs worth commenting on and if you do they either have comments disabled or never really review the comments.

In other words, good luck in your search as I'm sure you have a good number of phone sex stories you could tell but I hold little faith that you will be able to find many you can actually socially market with.

I turned off comments years ago because I got about 10-30 spammy comment messages every day. Then I installed a moderation plugin and I get about 100+ such messages every 2 days only now they don't bother visiting the site. In 10 years I have had less than a dozen valid comments. I encourage my admirers to send me feedback on a form.

I have found that the femdom/mistress blogs are pretty robust but they scare me and goodness knows what they will do to my clients. And then there are the sex activists and that's a whole other issue.

Haven't found anything except ErosBlog and Fleshbot. You have to audition for them. There is Luke Ford and Luke Is Back. Still not clear on the difference, but that's trade stuff. I have a few others that interest me and that's important. No point in including in my blogroll if I have no interest in the topic. At this point I am done looking. 8 blogs is enough for me to read, follow and possibly comment.

Erosblog and Fleshbot are some old school blogs and they were hard to get links with back when I was a serious blogger.

Demented Rants is another blog you may want to look into. Athena Hollow is an alt/geek girl who has her own program, does webcam shows and is probably more into gaming than either one of the above activities.

I know of others, like mine and flips, which are pretty much left to collect dust most of the time. Although I do break down and do a post every 6 months or so.

I don't have a blogroll yet because I found the same thing, I couldn't find an adult blog that I wanted to read. I accept and welcome comments on my site and am looking for blogs that I might like, I'll check out the ones listed above.

Thanks so much,
Giselle

Comments on adult blogs, I never let comments through and don't anyone who does unless it is a genuine remark without a link going to some site on Viagra or whatever.

As for blogrolls and link trading, I had to start my own forum to find a decent place for trades. My advice is to network with like minded webmasters and see who is still around next year. If they're still here and kept your links up you've got a trading partner.
