I was shocked a few days ago when I say people with tents camped out in front of both Target and Wal-Mart. What the hell?! All I know is I have better things to spend $600 on. Besides, I'll do what I always do and wait a few years until the price comes down to something more reasonable. |thumb

I was listening to the radio the other day on the way into work. The group of guys and 1 girl were talking about this. 1 of the guys was a hardcore console gamer. He was ranting about the games in HD and how cool it is to be able to see detail all the way in the distance of the games. Plus he was going on an on about other things. He is a full blown out adult. Hey I play games to but could not help but think, "now I know why this guy has no girlfriend or wife". He ranted about playing for 5 to 6 hours a night when he gets home from work while drinking the whole time. Yeah females find that very stimulating in a man. lol. Dont get me wrong, I like games but 1 or 2 hours per week is more then enough for me and my wife still complains when she see me playing them. I guess Chris Rock was right when he said "it's not the game playing that get her upset, it's the fact that you are having so much fun and she is not the source of the fun." lol

We had a guy on our local news that had just purchased one and they asked if it was for him or a gift. The guy said, "Are you kidding me? I am going to sell it on ebay for a couple of grand". :)

I am going to go through the same thing tomorrow for a Nintendo wii.

Selling it I can understand, buying it is just crazy. No entertainment is worth a few grand unless it's a trip or huge HD tv lol. I wonder how some of those people feel after they spend money like that only to walk by the same thing a few months later and see it for a few hundred.

I think the whole thing is crazy. There were even some bids on eBay for pre-sales of the PS3 for over 10,000$. No way would I spend that much on a gaming system. All you have to do is wait 6 months and you will be able to go into any store and buy it at regular price.

I tried the PS3 at E3. Was cool, but I wasn't floored. Not worth that kinda money, or hype.

A good friend of ours was involved in the marketing for the PS2 (he went on to organise the last Oasis world tour, lucky bastard)

It was his decision to delay the launch a few months in the UK and keep back huge amounts of stock and drip feed a hungry public on a feeding frenzy.. all the publicity the delay and lack of stock caused meant more sales in the end...

I am gonna get one as I am truely impressed with the graphics and features, as far as coming down in price I dont think it will drop that much even in 2 years, when I got my ps2 for 300.00 soon after it came out - it only dropped a 100.00 in 2 or 3 years...

I wouldnt buy one if I didnt have about everthing to surport it like:

65" tosiba wide screen hdtv
600 watt surround sound system with upgraded speakers
and wireless connection ofcourse

right now I am trying to play the kids and family thing to try and get one before xmas thing - heheheh

oh I would never pay a dime over what I could buy it in a store for or campout for days let alone hours...

I don't see the use in spending 600 bucks on a ps3 when the wii kicks so much ass. I got to try out the ps3 at gamecrazy and its cool and everything but I think the wii has got it beat.
