Members' Area Zip Sets

As I am rebuilding my site, I'm wondering, do members areas still generally offer zip sets? Also, do members actually download them?

|facepalm|

2 - |huh I did look in one of the CMS admins & there's stats for some stuff, but nothing on zip files.

I've had temp access to multiple member areas for the purpose of downloading content to make affiliate galleries. Nearly all of them had zip downloads.

So you grab all the content & then cancel before the 3 day trial kicks into a monthly membership. Good thinking :D

I have memberships at more than 100 sites and most of them offer this.

If members actually use them is another question though.. just today I saw a query in Evil Angel members area asking to rate how important pictures are on a scale 1-5

I really like photos. Depending on my mood, I sometimes prefer them.

I guess this means I should off zip sets then. Damn it - that's one more thing to click when processing content.

Thank you, folks! |bow|

Now if you grow your membership greatly and it is requested then that is another thing.

Now, I'm torn. When I post a query, I require everyone to come together with a singe agreed upon answer. That way, I don't have to think. |loony|

When I first purchased OWAMW, that's how I downloaded the content. J joined and downloaded all the zips. I didn't offer zip sets when I was running it, though. It's easy enough to offer zips, even with the ancient CMS I use, but I don't really understand the psychology of paysite members. Some join for a month and either don't enjoy it and cancel, or get their fill in the first month and cancel, while some members keep recurring despite not seeming to actually come back to the site.

1st off, my comment was really just me |pokefun| at Toby for joining sites that feature women in head-to-toe latex bodysuits where the boots/heels are attached (does that even exist?), but I think zips are one of those things that members assume will be there, so everyone offers them & you don't want to be different do you?

Also, are you even going to have a trial? |couch|

Since you asked... No, not with attached boots or heels. |waves|

My script effortlessly creates zip files for the older photo sets and many of the newer ones, but it gets pissy with the 'heaver' sets. I have up'd the memory allotment for PHP, but it still just seems to hang while collecting image data. So, it seems that I will have to occasionally create zips on my computer and upload them to the server.

Damn. You. All. |waves|

I am not building a vomit porn site. But, who knows what the future holds?

JustRobert 2019-02-23 12:24 PM

I still don't think it's necessary. Honestly don't believe it will stop those who buy a membership and/or stay for more than a month. My feeling that most people that would get pissed it was not available were only staying for the month anyways.

zip downloads are generally marketed as a membership bonus - downloads are generally expected

Pagan 2019-02-25 08:04 AM

I can see it from both sides here. The zips are expected yes, but, then you have people that simply harvest them and post them all over the place. Is that really such a great membership bonus? Why give all the good stuff right away? Why not save the huge ones for those who have been with you for 6 months or a year? Why not put smaller, lower quality images into the zips for the normal members? Not tiny, but certainly not the gigantic 2000x3000 I see out there. 1280x850 works nice, too. If I am a member on a site, I will certainly be more inclined to log in and see what is new, or view my favorites online.
