websites added to link list without being submitted

Question?
Is it a customary practice for Link List to take and add your sites to their list without you personally submitting or is it just plain ole' theft???
I was checking stats as usuall and noticed a new URL added and of course I followed it to find a lot of my sites listed there. Now here where it becomes interesting. The site seems to be sending traffic. It's linked to all my front doors. What do you do enjoy the traffic and shut the hell up or??????

thanks webman|afro|

I often see my stuff picked up by places that I never submitted it to. I just sit back and enjoy the traffic. :)

I think it common and who am I to get angry about it- I dont care where my traffic comes :D as long as i get the sales!

i think alot of linklist who comes by a slow period tend to pickup a few sites so their traffick keeps flowing in.
As I said - I dont care and I dont mind!

New link lists do this all the time to fill up categories. I wouldn't call it theft, unless they have stolen the descriptions from other link lists.

Enjoy the traffic and take it as a compliment that someone thinks your sites are worth listing.

You may find eventually that when the link list has enough real submitted links they will drop all sites without recips. including your sites they borrowed.

Remember that new link lists have a honeymoon period where they will get listed by much larger established link lists which will provide traffic boosts.

I firmly believe that all traffic is good traffic. :)

Hey webman!

Some linklist owners share databases between their own linklists.

So if you're listed on one, you're listed on their others too, which really is a bonus I think :)

Also, if you don't want the traffic, just let them know and they'll probably remove you. And if you're curious about where they got your listings from, ask that too!

i wouldnt worry about it too much unless they're also hotlinking pics etc which sometimes happens.

I hear about people using gallery harvesters and the like to grab galleries for thier new link lists.. some people will launch many link lists per day like this..

if it's this kind of setup where the descriptions are obviously ripped from another site i might redirect traffic sent from that domain as i don't like assholes that rip off other peoples shit. It takes time to review and describe these sites.

Ive gotten listed on a site thats now one of my top 5 referrers :-)

Unless the link or site is illegal, dont worry about it. Its free traffic :-)

I get listed all the time by people and never hear from them, if they wanted a return link they would surley email you!
Out of courtesy if they send decent converting traffic I give a linkback, so they dont take me down...:) Just my 2 cents

yep...happens to me all the time, and some send a fair amount of traffic. I just sit back and enjoy it :-)
