What does Tommy mean "No mouse overs"

No image swaps?

I sent him a PM, but he hasn't been around since late last night.

plateman 2004-08-20 12:01 PM

When you mouse over a link the url that you go to is displayed in the bottom address bar in your browser - so there is a code to display whatever you want people to see

Alphawolf 2004-08-20 12:23 PM

Aw, shit. I thought it was recommended to have this. :(

One of cleo's free sites has a recip to tommy's and she uses mouse overs...

http://kinky-cleo.com/porn/trans/jai...ics/index.html

Well, anyway- I need to go remove all the mouse overs I guess.

Nobody mentioned this in my free site review. Bummer.

Ramster 2004-08-20 12:23 PM

I believe he means no fake mouseovers like Free Teen Porn or something. Only use a mouseover to hide the codes so the surfer will not see ccbill.whatever.whatever as far as I know.

I think you're fine. It's the fake mouseovers he hates.

Ramster is right. Tommy accepts real mouse overs :)

Ah. OK. I hope so. My mouseover points to the actual domain name, but just hides my affiliate code is all.

Whew. OK. Thanks guys. No fake mouseovers on my site at all. :)

It seems most people who submit take that literally because a random clicking of some of tommy's listing shows pure ugly affiliate codes.

I guess on his part it's easier to just state "no mouse overs" than "A basic mouseover that goes to the actual domain is ok, but no tricky shit."

Most of the bigger TGP and LL's have this rule and it applies as stated by other posts in this thread. It's easier to say no and accept proper mouseovers than to allow them openly.

I think this was mentioned by myself and Tommy in another thread...or two.

I think you guys may all be wrong, ha ha.

You can use a mouseover command to automatically either launch a new browser or take the existing browser to a sponsor, just by moving your cursor over the banner or link that has this kind of mouseover code attached to it.

This was a big deal trick back in the old days, when dirtier sites were the norm.

I've always thought that was what Tommy meant. He's had that rule for as long as I've known his site. Course, I could be wrong.

Ahhh - the good old days of per clicks & image mouseovers that sent you to the programs site :D

I think Tommy does allow you to change stuff like:
http://click.silvercash.com/?a=233424&p=1&s=74&r=5
to this:
http://www.fuckingtoons.com/

But no monkey business :)

No monkey business from me.

Do any LL's let you know if you were listed or you just need to keep checking the category you applied to?

I only submitted to Cleo, Tommy and MegaPorn so far. Didn't want to go nuts if there was some issue with the site just due to ignorance.

chrisrock79 2004-08-20 03:12 PM

Cleo lets you know, I think Tommy's does but don't quote me on that. If they don't let you know, check your stats, if they're not in your stats, check their site, if it's not on the site, ask. That's the easiest way I think, but most do let you know. Remember, there could be a big backlog at some places, like freepicssex.com.

Cleo 2004-08-20 03:16 PM

I do unless you are on my ban list.

Many places don't, best to look at your server stats.

Surfn 2004-08-20 04:08 PM

It might mean that no mouse is allowed to sleep over night...

Thanks, chris.

OK. What does your backlog look like?

I submitted with Alphawolf at smuttyerotica dot com as my e-mail addy.

I got a visit from Link Admin bot.

I forgot about the backlogs for some reason.

I'm pretty sure after all the reviews here and another board I'm not doing anything wrong. So, I'll sludge through some more submissions.

BTW, I like how Tommy's script sends you an e-mail after submitting with the site name and URL submitted.
