Search Engine Question

Hi
just finished mt first adult site n getting into SEO
I have a disclaimer on the first page, should I only let the search engines index this page as the rest of the site should only be looked via this page?

cheers
Tim.

No, you shouldn't.

Let the SEs spider the whole site.

There are lots of reasons why...

DangerDave 2004-08-25 11:25 PM

What Bill said.... :)

If its 'normal' to have a disclaimer/warning, then let them see it... The SE robots will find the other pages as long as there is a link there.

Make sure you have your keywords near the top of that disclaimer page, use alt tags if you don't want the text to show

Ok My 2 main Key Words are the first words in the page title, is that good enough or do I heve to have them as the first words in the tag as well?

cheers
Tim

Ps i have many more questions, I've tried other seo forums, but its difficult to get advice on adult orientated sites.

put them in the top of the body also preferrably as linked keyword text to a sponsor or other site that has the same keywords

Ok, I dont fancy linking to another site off my first page, if you know what I mean. I only want to link to my site from here. I have a seperate links page for that.

Can I post my URL here please.

here it is

http://www.gillysillyhouse.com/

ive had a go at optimizing the first two pages.

DangerDave 2004-08-26 06:22 PM

inzane,

Firstly... be very careful who you take SE advice from... There is plenty of unfounded and just plain wrong advice..

Re: http://www.gillysillyhouse.com/

I would not change anything on those pages untill you start to see results from the search engines, and then you can make adjustments based on where you fall.

Thats said... you use a lot of UPPER CASE in those pages which I would change to normal "sentence" case.

Some SE's treat CaSe differently eg: lower = lower or upper , or UPPER = UPPER only

If your prime keywords are "wet and messy" , use "wet and messy", not "wet messy". You may upset your word balance, text density writing in 'improper' english.

you weren't referring to my advice were you DD?

Hello, I used the words WET MESSY rather than WET AND MESSY in the title because when I used webCEO, it told me that AND was a stop word, and stop words should not be used in titles!..

You are right im getting advice from a lot of places trying to get the big picture. Its very difficult!

graphicsbytia 2004-08-27 12:54 AM

I took a look at your site inzane, and I think you're doing a fine job on the search engine optimization.

One thing I noticed that you might add though are alt tags to the images on the second page. Alt tags are looked upon as text by search engines, and a good place to get your keywords in.

One other thing I wanted to say, you did a wonderful job on this site as far as design, it's different, and fun and inviting.

Nice job ;)

Thank you Very much i'm glad you like imy site, the first of many hopefully.

Tim.

ps I'm going to make the changes that you guys have suggested here.

Im not sure how to go about optimizing the other pages tho.

Do I use wet n messy keywords for my preview, latest photos, letters pages..etc.
Or do I use keywords to do with preview pics for the preview pics page, or a mixture of preview type words along with wet n messy type words?

hope thats clear

Tim.

I would use the same type of keywords you used on the other pages, unless you find a phrase on overture like preview wet and messy pics

just in case you don't know about overture keyword tool, here's the url http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/

Tia, Its very impressive to see someone share their knowledge like you have. None of us are Guru's when it comes to SE's but every bit of advice helps... Good on you for sharing and helping out :)

Thank you Kezza

I do this because when I was a newbie myself, I joined a webmaster resource site.. in fact, it wasn't Greenguy and Jim, it was another site (still in operation) that Greenguy and Jim actually sprang from.. and the people on those newbie boards were so helpful and kind that I never fogot that, and now I try to give some of that kindness and goodwill back when I can.

To me, this is the spirit that makes the adult industry unique on the internet, we do well and survive because we operate as a comminity rather than individual businesses. No mainstream industry can rival what we have in adult :)
