Congrats - welcome to the pr6 elite.

Dr Bizzaro 2003-09-26 04:41 PM

Finally I am a member of something. PR6 in the house!
(I'm referring to MY PR6)
Congrats to you too....

Jim 2003-09-26 04:42 PM

Thanks guys...knowing nothing about search engines, I have no idea why we now have a 6 :)

DangerDave 2003-09-26 05:49 PM

Congrats guys....

|couch| without trying to be a spoil sport... PR has been a little futher devalued IMO, and there are heaps of PR6's out there now...

The true test of the pudding.. will be who maintaints it and who has/gains stronger internal PR.

It's is still a good thing tho..... can I have a link?.:D

Cleo 2003-09-26 07:22 PM

Anyone want to take some guesses as to what caused the board to go to a PR 6 so fast? Be kind of interesting to know.

DangerDave any thoughts on this other then it doesn't really mean anything? lol

Cause most of the linklist owners that use this board, and even some that don't seem to use it (eg. richard) have linked to it, as well as a lot of the other resource sites, as well as people listed in the resources sections....

Lot's of decent pr'ed incoming links = good pr :)

Linkster 2003-09-27 12:54 AM

Agree with the incoming links...it also is the quality of the links, the target text coming in, the quality content and just plain dumb luck on the timing - along with about 50 other on page factors that most people dont even look at.

DangerDave 2003-09-27 10:29 PM

Agreed....

High quality relevant incoming links.

As a rule resource sites are well structured, and relevant.. eg: categorised , good anchor text etc.

Structure of the pages within this site help too... the persistent header/menu. Relevant crosslinking of pages etc.. makes it strong.

I think we forgot to link to your Nazi style sites & Google thus like us a little better :D

It's the incoming links for sure - I have a link om my main page & I know there's a few other resource sites that have us on their main pages or index pages.

To quote my old boss, it's all good :D

DD: You bring up the most important point - all the PR in the world don't get you a good SERP result.

I am spending more time now trying to get better and better incoming text links and other stuff to support better SERPs... PR seems to be good for getting googlebot / freshbot / whateverbot to come and look at your site, and you can use it for showing off new sites and getting them indexed quickly...

link2x is up to PR5... findpics.net is up to PR4... it's as if everything got 1 PR point added just for being there!

Alex

DangerDave 2003-09-28 04:52 PM

Exactly Alex.:D

http://www.greenguysboard.com/index.html

... is a good case in point, of a page that is mosly well optimised, but could easily be tweaked a little to gain some much better spots in the results.

GG? Jim? would you like to make some changes , minor of course... and see if we can improve the results..? With the PR6 GoogleBot will be past often, you should be able to see changes almost within a few days.

If you would rather not do it publically.. tis cool.. |rasta|

Solid #1 here - http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...aster+Resource

Greenguy 2003-09-29 09:39 AM

DDave - we're redesigning that page right now, so once the new version is up there, you can tweak it for us :)

Smoothie 2003-10-05 12:15 AM

That's very cool Greeny and Jim. Up until lately it seeemed like adult sites in general had a ceiling of PR5. My link list just rose to PR5 from PR4 and the inside pages went from PR3 to PR4.
Perhaps Google has made some changes in the way they rank adult sites?
Anyone else seeing this boost?
