Still using paypal? read this

Looks like paypal is going to start fining people 500 bucks per transaction for using paypal for adult related items, prescription medicines, or gambling related items.

If you're still doing this, you're risking losing your ass now it seems. here is the article to back it up.

sad news. stupid paypal.

Surfn 2004-09-14 04:37 AM

I don't know why anyone would want to use paypal anymore.

Boogie 2004-09-14 04:40 AM

I quit using it when they were first bought out. I too still run across people that use it and tell me "do this this and this" which is why paypal is going to start fining people.

For those who knowingly use it still:

Don't cheat paypal by not using it!

If you get caught do NOT expect any sympathy from me.

good points!!!

we actually do some stuff with Storm Pay..certainly not as good as Paypal was but better than trying to circumvent the paypal system and lose it all.

People still use paypal because there is still nothing quite like it. I guess we are going to stop using it but not without screaming and kicking :)

Certifiedbitch 2004-09-14 10:17 AM

i think paypal sucks now...don't risk yourself from the fine paypal has now for every violation.

No two surfers are alike. Diversify your payment options for every potential sale. Hit me up, I'd be happy to get you guys setup fast and free.

JenC 2004-09-15 04:14 PM

ePassporte isn't much better. I'm having big issues with them this week. Money Bookers is looking more and more enticing.

Kath 2004-09-15 04:18 PM

I'm surprised at how many people are still using PayPal for adult and gaming stuff... shocking! But then again there were quite a few companies that posted that they'd finally gone to ePassporte or other industry-friendly solutions just recently - it's hard to make the change (especially when PayPal is just SO damned easy!), but you've just GOT to do it.

Hope too many people don't get fined... get out - NOW!

Is there any alternative to Paypal for MICRO payments?

Let's say for amounts under 5 Dollars?
Like the way many TGPs are using PayPal for "guaranteed next day listing."

A good thing killed by corporate interests.

neticule 2004-09-16 08:31 AM

blah

i use paypal to register domains, which are usually adult based... could i get fined for this? i wouldnt think domain registration is much of a risk for them (as far as chargebacks and such go)

GeorgeTH,

WTS has been doing micro deposits for years. We can do anything from free trials to monthly billings, we also do one time billings.

Hit me up via ICQ or email if you have any questions. I'd be happy to assit you.

Hey there tough guy! You ought to put a pricing structure up on your site. Looks like a good plan you have there, but I like to gather as much info as possible, without establishing human contact. You need a nice litte chart with ercentages and what-what.

Fee's vary from client to client, depending on numerous factors such as type of product, volume, average ticket price, etc...

Typically, for recurring membership sites it runs from 12%-15% of COLLECTED funds.

here is a little more about us....

...because we have been processing checks longer than anybody on the Adult Net, we have:

- the largest negative check database in the industry
- propriety fraud controls on the front-end
- a "pre-note" process which helps eliminate bad account info from ever being presented to the bank
- we "re-present" all NSF transactions on your behalf
- we have an in-house collections dep't that recovers money on bad checks

... AND we only charge our processing fees on COLLECTED monies! (unlike our competition)

There are NO set up fees, so there is no reason not to set up an account and COMPARE!

what else would you like to know? :)

SirMoby 2004-09-16 05:03 PM

I like PayPal because I generally hate the other services available. Epassorte always gets to bank some money and support can take weeks. The fact that I even needed to contact support is bad enough.

Some other places are overly complicated.

Useless Warrior,
If information is not readily available to the public there's a reason for it and I've never seen a situation where the reason is good for you.

Paypal banks money too - 3% isn't it?

Exactly... I've been doing a lot of eBay sales lately and I've selected to accept PayPal payments only... it's nice because it's fast and well, it's PayPal ;) .... but with every convenience there's a price.

3% isn't HUGE, but everyone has to take a cut - that's how business is done. You want they should do it for free? They have to make $$$ too.

TaDoW 2004-09-17 01:00 PM

I had my paypal account for RedneckPorn frozen wayyyy back in the day. I was probably one of the first and I've never understood why people continue to use them - even require the use of them (in situations where I'd buy advertising for Dormbucks on tgps, etc.)... oh well, good riddens to paypal, I haven't looked back since I stopped using them.

erehwon 2004-09-17 08:05 PM

Until everyone starts using e-gold I guess I have to buy a bland domain to keep using Paypal.

Surfn 2004-09-17 08:33 PM

I would rather wire money anywhere on the planet than use paypal. Less convenient but cheaper. I have no idea why anyone wants to cling to any one method for payment? Then again I've been doing business all over the globe for more than 20 years.

I use egold but the problem I have with it is getting your money out. I haven't spent much time with it but it seems you have to sell your egold to merchants and they send you the $'s. Is there any other way that you know about erehwon?

I hate wires, but it's $12.50 to send one inside the US & $20 send one out (for me, anyway - I'm sure al banks are different)

So if I have to send $500, PayPal would cost me $15 & ePassporte is what? $5 each time?

I'm so confused - LOL

Maybe I can just send checks & let the other end worry about it - like I do with Murray - LOL

Of course, I think a lot of us are also forgetting that PayPal, while not good for adult stuff, is pretty fucking fantastic for everything else :)

I was only referring to adult biz.
