Buck Angel 2004-09-15 12:04 PM

I'm glad you guys got out Buck :)

From what I'm seeing and hearing there could be 20' of water in town by morning |sad|

Good to hear you got out, I just spoke to a friend who is in the general area and he said the same thing, no rooms anywhere, he's on his way to Houston now and then San Antonio, he asked me to go with him and I turned him down, and he called telling me I made the right decision.

Good luck.

New Orleans is about the last place that I would want to be in a hurricane. Where I live might not be any fun but at least we have no flooding worries.

Glade your out of harms way Buck

Trev 2004-09-15 04:33 PM

glad to hear you got out Buck.... didn't I hear/read somewhere that NO is only something like 4 inches above sea level? that's going to be a mess....

Linkster 2004-09-15 04:51 PM

Trev - on average New Orleans sits approx 8 ft below sea level - they have a pumping system, flood gates and levees that try to keep the flooding down :)

Buck - I wish I coulda caught you before you guys left - we're gonna get some of the winds and rain - they say around minimum hurricane strength around here - but I do have a few extra bedrooms and loads of space - and Im only a little ways up I55

It's not going to be that bad... I'll be getting stoned and riding it out... |rasta|

What kind of shop does your wife own if you don't mind me asking Buck?

Cleo 2004-09-15 06:08 PM

Looks like the eye is much better defined on this one. :(

Hope you're well inland :) Just saw current video of Lake Pontchartrain - up over the sea wall already - dont know which park it was - but the park benches were already getting deep in the water LOL - Hopefully theyve opened the gates over at the I-10 bridge

Oh wow we got so lucky! I am on my way back home tonight, Thanks for all the well wishes. Linkster thanks for thinking of me!

My wife has two shops in the quarter..Rings of Desire and Chiwawagaga. Body Piercing and a small doggy clothing store. My office is also upstairs. So we were really freaked out that we were gonna loose everything!
