Stolen ePassporte Number

So I login to my ePassporte account and see I only have $50 in there when I was sure I had $200. I see transactions for Register.com and Brinkster (another registrar) so I call epassporte and then I have to call both registrars because I Did Not make any purchases. I get satisfaction and the charges are being reversed. Then just now I see another charge at godaddy from late last night for another purchase. Just hung up with godaddy and the charges are being reversed.

Using my credit card it has ALL my info address ect BUT a different email address and his own login of course. I have his IP and this dickwad is in Montreal. And he purchased the same domain all 3 times (non adult) but once with a web package and another time with an online email too.

What should I do? Contact police? Email this idiot?

How can I personally track him down via the IP?

I hope someone can help you. Thieves are as low as rapists and child molesters in my book. And if they've done it to you, you can bet they're doing it to dozens of others.

Greenguy 2004-09-22 02:42 PM

I would actually see if ePassporte will procede with fraud charges against this assclown - I know that my regular credit card's would.

Jim 2004-09-22 02:45 PM

A Canadian, huh???
Now that is a surprise :)

Ramster 2004-09-22 02:45 PM

kristian
You are probably right. :(

Greenguy
I'm waiting for them to call me right now.

RawAlex 2004-09-22 02:49 PM

Ramster, got an address? Perhaps I can go over and ask him "why"?

Alex

Ramster 2004-09-22 03:10 PM

Jim, LOL

Alex
I have the IP used to register the domains and an email that looks to be free, that's it.

ePassporte froze my account so I have to setup a new account. And they do nothing but give information to the police so I have to contact the police on my own.

I hope Mike is at basketball tonight, he's a detective with the police here and maybe he could shed some light on this for me.

Surfn 2004-09-22 03:28 PM

That totally bites Ramster |lightsabe

At least he hasn't been able to get away with using it. But why is epassporte so insecure? That's the real question.

Torn Rose 2004-09-22 03:30 PM

Holy shit dude, I'd post his info on everything you have on him, including the domains he tried to buy.

I hope you get your $ back and get to break this guys balls.

Surfn 2004-09-22 03:34 PM

I just checked mine and it getting up there...I guess I need to drain it. No sign of tampering.

Let us know how this turns out Ramster...

Ramster 2004-09-22 03:59 PM

I know shit about the guy other than an email (free account) and the his IP used to register the domains.

When using my ePassporte CC to register he had to use my name and address or the CC would be declined.

Sean416 2004-09-22 04:19 PM

what was the whois info on the domain(s) he tried to buy?

Oh, and make sure you buy those domains and never sell them to him.|haha

The whois is me. He had to use my name and address when using My credit card. It could quite possibly be an idiot just deciding to fuck with me. Who knows for sure.

tiny 2004-09-22 10:14 PM

let the cops handle it.thats what they et paid for.
Don't they always get their man.I wouldn't try to do anything to him
personally and the cops can get info you can't.

Trax 2004-09-23 06:56 AM

epp must be able to deal with that
have them trace him down and the let the cops go and get him

Ramster 2004-09-23 08:58 AM

ePassporte does not have a detective section, they only give everything to the cops and that's it.

Talked to my friend last night who's a detective here and he said since the guy is in Montreal that's good. But he said it's a pain in the ass. Something that small wouldn't get attention for a long while. I have the IP he used and he said if the guy made 3 purchases (which he did all for the same domain) he most likely made it from a public access computer unless he's a complete moron.

So fuck it for now I guess.

Here's the info I have on him:
domain: fedexca.com
IP used: 24.200.88.239
email used: (not telling) @ safe-mail.net

SirMoby 2004-09-23 09:05 AM

Videotron Cananda which is his cable company should know which IP addresses are assigned to its customers. They should be able to get the guy's physical address.

You know anyone that works for them? If not the police should be able to get that information.
The longer you wait the harder it will be to get that info but if you can it should be an easy bust.

Ramster,

it sucks.. I hope you can hunt him down soon and pay back what he did yo you.

I am getting recently spam to my epassporte address, always bestiality related and I have no idea where they found my email. I reported it to epassporte and fowrarded one but no reply so far..

And I have all my money in my epassporte account, not much but would be real pain to lose it.. I have a year to pay back the loan/mortgage I got to pay mom's 2 yr. chemo medication and surgeries.

Opti 2004-09-23 07:53 PM

Ramster,

Are you still confident about epassporte? Do you suspect it was someone that got your information elsewhere.. like a place you have purchased something online with the card or anything like that?

I dont care about blame or anything, would just like to have some confidence there isnt a problem specific to epassporte system security.

Ramster 2004-09-23 11:08 PM

I have no idea how he got my card info.

I use my epassporte to pay for partner accounts and gallery spots, to pay hosting and buy domains also but that's about it.

I got all the money charged back so I never lost anything other than my account is now frozen until I set up a new account.

Once I know more I'll post it.

Hmm, good point... I am using it for purchasing content in the first place, sometimes sofware at kagi using the virtual # etc.

hope it gets sorted out soon, Ramster!
