GG or Jim Newsletter Question
To the best of my knowledge, I haven't changed any type of settings in my email program. I used to get the newsletter and it looked as you intended it to.
Now when I get it, it's all...weird. The code shows, though the hyperlinks are still hyperlinks, if that makes sense. It's not a big deal, just makes it hard for me to decipher. I was more curious as to if you knew why it was doing that. Thanks! |

We haven't changed anything in forever. I would almost think it could be us but...so far, you are the only person telling us about a problem. |
It appears as if it is on my end then. Just weird, since it came normally, then changed.
It's not that big a deal for me to copy it to dreamweaver to be able to read it. Thanks Jim! :) |
have any spam filtering?
A common spam prevention tactic is to change the header of a text/html to text/plain which would cause the code to come through. This prevents webbugs, etc from tracking whether you read it and is used to prevent malicious html from installing software. Just a thought. |
Hey cd34...
I appreciate your input. I went to look, and my spam protection is set to off. I remember doing that to make sure that any important porn related emails could get through. So that isn't it, but I sure appreciate it. You told me something I didn't know, and the day didn't get away without me learning something. :) |
Sounds suspiciously like a sympton of someone who now has XP SP2 (service pack 2) installed.
(but that doesnt explain why no one else has issues) |
Just tried the newsletter with SP2 + Outlook Express and "plain text" switched off.
All images are blocked by SP2, it says... "to prevent the sender from identifying your computer." But when you click the bar to allow the images, the newsletter looks fine. |
I just can't understand why anyone would use outlook with so many better email clients out there for free.

Opti, I have held off on installing SP2, so that isn't it. Though it does sound like some of the issues I have heard people speak of.
~listens to urb & Jim~ I'm not using Outlook. I hate it. The newletter goes to a web based email account. ~thinks~ Jim, can I change my newletter to go to my ISP email? That would at least let me know if the problem replicates. |
I have been told that there are problems with web based email and the newsletter. Go ahead and unsubscribe your address and then add a new one.

Works and looks fine in Mail.app
I have my prefs set to not load images until I ask it to but it looks perfect once I hit load images. |
Sorry, Jim, that was kind of a no-brainer on my part. I wasn't seeing the subscribe/unsubscribe links for some reason. Cleo, it isn't really that it isn't showing images. Here is a snippet of how the last newsletter looked to me:
