How much is a 4 letter .biz domain worth ?

I'm not involved in the domain biz but I thought I would ask here incase anyone is, just curious as to how much a 4 letter .biz domain would go for these days ?

DangerDave 2004-10-12 04:37 PM

If its porn.biz it will be worth a few bucks otherwise see ^ above ^....

Carl 2004-10-12 06:05 PM

Yeah I think it would depend on what the 4 letters are. -_-

What someone is willing to pay: the greater fool theory of pricing. It's worked in the stock market for a 100 years :)

Ramster 2004-10-12 07:36 PM

It's worth 4 more letters... s h i t |rasta|

plateman 2004-10-12 07:52 PM

|jester| |jester| thats a good one

coatsy 2004-10-12 07:56 PM

Thanks for the info guys, its appreciated :)

I've seen quite a few .biz domains go for quite a bit of cash on GFY but they were 1 or 2 word porn domains so I guess thats why, just thought I would ask anyways.

Just needed to make sure I wasn't letting a domain expire that was potentially worth some cash

Cheers |santa|

I'm glad a few people got a laugh outta this post ;)

kristian 2004-10-12 08:37 PM

What's the domain anyway? :)

coatsy 2004-10-14 02:29 PM

The domain is pbss.biz

I can't think of any companies that have those initials, can anyone else ?

kristian 2004-10-14 03:11 PM

If it was a .com then it would have more value obviously. There are 8,250 sites on google that contain the term pbss. Have a look, send out a few emails. If you ever get serious about domains, check out : sedo.com, pool.com, afternic.com, greatdomainnames.com, dnforum.com (great place to buy and sell in a forum setting).

I wish it was a .com :) I'm certainly thinking about doing a lot more research into the domain name biz, the market certainly seems to be hotting up. Hence the reason I made this thread, just incase.

Do you dabble in the domain biz yourself ?

I started to play around a few months ago. Had most success with mainstream domains thus far. dnforum is a good place to learn more about the business. Looking at sites such as sedo.com and afternic.com are also good for getting to know what is marketable (recent sales and the new domains up for sale). I'm in negotiations now for my domains EasyFinanceTerms.com, LateTaxes.com and some others. All good fun and another way to make money. :)

Absolutely :)

I've collected up quite a lot of very good threads on GFY about the domain industry, just a case of reading them now and getting started :)

coatsy - just about every day there are 3 letter .coms expiring and most dont get picked up - if youre creative you can find some gems in there :)

Stouch 2004-10-17 12:44 PM

I used to be into domains about 3 years ago but it got too competitive with loads of people getting involved so I moved into other areas. I dont doubt that you can still pick up the odd gem (I got one recently) but it is significantly harder now.

Po-boy sandwich shop? ;)

Seriously, why bother? You can still get a 4-letter .com for $8.95. I did... from pool.com's auction. Someone was just letting it go because they didn't have a use for it and it wasn't very memorable.

Edit: I haven't had good experiences with pool.com's customer service. Just a heads-up.
