Problem with conversions
 

Hey there,

Hopefully i'm posting this in the right area of the board... We run a site www.cuteplumper.com that isn't converting at all well...

Was wondering if you guys had any advice or ideas as to why the site isn't converting that well, we run another couple of sites in the bbw niche and they are converting well with traffic from the same sources.

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the colours on the site or if the freetour isn't good enough / too confusing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Well, I run Mozilla with Norton AV and firewall, and none of the graphics are showing up for me-not even red x'x...so I have no visible way of even entering the site..maybe that's got some effect. |smooch|

I had to unlock the site to see the resizing pop-under in FireFox.

Get rid of that or at a minimum do not resize the pop-under window.

Hmmm Damn someone else reported that they had problems when viewing the site in Norton however we thought it was just restricted to his configuration seems it could be a wider problem. We are running Mcafee on the windows PC but i use Mandrake with Galeon which is based on Mozilla but i have no probs with that so it's gotta be a norton issue for the images not showing.

Quick google search revealed that norton blocks a load of banner ads that are certain sizes etc and also by what path they are in but i can't find an uptodate list - anyone have an up to date list?

Chase: is there any chance that you could do a print screen of the site so that we could see what pics are being blocked?

Just tested the popunder in Firefox... under Linux it pops up in front of the site but in windows it pops up behind the site.. I'm thinking we might remove the popup altogether.

It blocks by common banner sizes, key words, and other stuff.

euuuuuuughhh i hate norton stuff and avoid it like the plague but i guess it's times like these when you have to bite the bullet and install it i guess :(

This site design is boring and the logo is bad. The logo should have a pic of your sexiest chick showing a little flesh.

Thanks for the feedback Rictor is there any style of design that you would recommend we change it to? The site is just of the one girl so that is the sexiest chick on that site ;)

Chase: Which version of Norton are you using as i just installed Norton Internet Security 2005 and the site isn't blocked at all??? The mystery deepens lol

It's my firewall, I think..if I disable my firewall, I can see the pics, but I know most surfers are not going to want to do that.
See, the enter button isn't visible, or clickable....the average joe with his dick in his hand won't think straight enough to disable the firewall and refresh...he'll just move on to something else.

thanks for the help... that's really weird that the pics aren't showing up :( As i installed norton 2005 and it didn't block any of the pics |pissed|

They show up for a moment, but one by one they disappear!

Would you be able to do me a favour and follow these instructions and tell me if it gives any reason as to why they are being blocked...

My configuration is totally different than that, lol.
I opened Norton, hit options, chose Firewall, then hit "view statistics" but I don't think I wound up where I'm supposed to be, lol.
If I hit "event log" I get to where I can choose "content blocked" but nothing is showing up at all.

Think we have solved the problem yaaay!!!

Hotlink protection was enabled on the domain for some reason and once we turned it off it started working again!

Could you check it out and confirm that it works ?

Lemme know when your sites up and we can sort out link exchanges etc - we run 3 plumper / bbw amateur sites at the moment with another on the way :)

This particular plumper happens to be a favourite of mine :) I'm her codemonkey and also her cameraman / bf lol :D

I'm still learning how to use the camera and take better pics lol the yoga shoot on the site was meant to be in colour but i had it on the wrong setting so the pics were all grainy so they had to be in black and white lol.

Now that we've got the site working with norton do you reckon there is anything wrong with the design? :)

Well, I'm not the most experienced webmaster, by far, lol, but I am a pretty experienced surfer, lol. i think it looks fine...just a few technical things you may want to think about...
First, in the samples section...why not have thumbs instead of text links? It took such a long time for the text link to go to the pic that I just opened it in a new tab. The average surfer may not have the patience or know-how to do that.
Second, you may want to rethink your links section being available in the tour. Every link there is a possible leak. Maybe have an exit pop-up with a full-page ad for your traffic trades or something, b/c at that point they were leaving anyway.
Third, I like the little shoutbox with new updates and things coming up-plus a way for people to send a quick message. Good idea. Why not go a step further with that and have a blog, too? It would let Elisha's personality come through a bit more, and make the surfer feel more involved with her.
Fourth, why not use fanmail comments on your tour? I don't know if you'd have to get permission or not, but put up a few quotes that members have given in your tour so the surfer sees that the members are satisfied with the member's area.
Fifth, what about webcam shows? I know it's really hard to get used to the idea....trust me, I know, lol. But an amateur cam network or what ever route you choose to broadcast a camshow or two a week can really bring a whole new dimension to the site. The advantage to some of the amateur webcam networks (like amateurcamz.com) is that your members get to see all the other amateur camshows in the network, so you're offering them a LOT more for their money.
I hope it doesn't seem like I'm picking you guys apart!|smooch|
I had my husband check the site out, too, and these five suggestions are what we came up with, from both a surfer and a webmaster/model pov. I hope if you choose to roll with any of them that they work well for you!

I really appreciate everyones comments because I do want to get the site up there with the big sites no pun intended :)

I'm gonna work on that right now to get it changed, and i'm gonna do the same for all the girls sites we run too. I never thought of that before.

Do you think it would be an idea instead of having each big image popping up in a new window, to actually have a php page with each image in so we still have the navigation and what not included in the design?

I totally agree with that, as does my monkey. We've decided that we're going to make a exit popup with our links trades on. the only thing is a few places like bbwpicpost require a link on the front page to be listed, so i'm gonna bump down the table a bit down the page and only put the few most important links that must be listed on there.

I did think about that in the past, but when I started updating a livejournal I found I was a really boring person lmao!! but perhaps I could talk about things that interest me rather than what i've been doing.

I used to have one but it seems to have disapeared lol. I think i'll set up a form in the members area to ask for comments to use. I hope some of my members will help me out :)

I used to do them, twice a week with my old website i ran a few years ago, but I just find that I got frustrated with them lol. I think I will add them as a last resort though so stay tuned :D Instead of doing webcam shows, would adding a load more movie clips (maybe like 100 or something daft) help?

I know, I felt the same way about my personal blog when I started it...way before the adult thing ever occurred to me. But the whole blog idea has taken off for many of the same reasons reality tv has-people are nosy, lmfao! And particularly in an amateur situation, you want your fans to be drawn in by not only what your looks are, but your persona, as well. Our lives may be kinda humdrum, but obviously there is a lot more to our personalities, because honestly, how many plumper/bbw women have the balls to do what you do? (It is empowering to me, and I may be wrong for assuming, but I bet it is for you as well.) Your blog gives you a platform to express your personal, political, spiritual, beliefs and call attention to the issues that are important to you.

I completely understand. It's hard to get into your groove, and the members can be really demanding...but, you are in control. If you DO decide to do them, make it clear that the member shows are not the place for them to make demands on you..you are free to pose as YOU want to...not that you can't take a nicely worded request, but don't let them push you around. Tell them if they want to direct you, they need to take you into private after the show. Either they will want to do it and you get a buck or two each minute you entertain them, or they won't and they'll quit being bossy, lolol.
Extra movies are always a good thing, lol, but maybe a compromise like a live chat every week would appease them, as well, and be a bit less work for you. We aren't trying to run you ragged after all-it IS supposed to be FUN, for you, too. You can turn on your cam if you want, but not give an actual "show". Whatever you feel most comfortable with.

The first thing I would do is add a big blue text JOIN NOW link at the bottom of every page. Just having the star & small link in the menu don't stand out to me. I had to search to find it when wondering what your join price was.

Thats a fair point! There arent many of us plumpers / bbws doing it. there are a lot more than 3 years ago unfortunately hehe :) I will get my monkey to knock me up a script so its not advertising any other sites and get writing :) Thanks again so much for helping :) :) I changed the design a little bit so it wasnt so jumbled up (well the header anyway :)

I am still smiling!! :) I am gonna add that button right now :) Then i think i'll submit to a few of the big TGPs again. I cant believe i was on the hun thumbs-up and most of the people couldnt see my enter button!! arrgh.
