WEG cash & Godaddy - wtf?
Godaddy yanked their domain??
anyone else check into this yet, whats going on ... I guess we need to pull links till its all sorted?? http://resellers.tucows.com/opensrs/whois/ type in their site www.wegcash.com and I see this: Domain Name: WEGCASH.COM Registrar: GO DADDY SOFTWARE, INC. Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com Name Server: NS1.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM Name Server: NS2.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM Status: ACTIVE Updated Date: 03-oct-2003 Creation Date: 19-jul-2000 Expiration Date: 19-jul-2005 holy cow |
I'd expect WegCash to make an announcement sometime later today about this issue.
|
I get server not found.
Once again something bad happens with a domain and the name GoDaddy comes up. I just renewed a bunch of my domains. Any guesses who I did not use? |
What is this? Attack of the vile registrars season? Sheesh!
Let's hope WEG Cash spanks the sh** out of GoDaddy... and no, it's not surprising... I'm seeing GoDaddy mentioned all the time now whenever there's a problem. I've always used Conepup's CWNic - and thank GOODNESS that I was lucky enough to have friends refer me there right from my newbie days! |bananna
I can get to the sites & my link codes seem to be working, so I have to assume that the info on the whois is incorrect (unless their name servers are actually "NS1.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM" - LOL
Mystery Man - sig files need to be 120x60 or less - sorry |
I get server not found also cleo
I suppose its the propigation thats causing some to get the site and others not too *IF* and I don't want to jump the gun here .. but IF this really is true, this will cause alot of sponsors who use godaddy to switch registrars really quickly I bet LOL |
Seeing as I can still get to the sites, my ISP might not have propagated for me yet.
If that is the case & they are down, I'd bet it was because of their newsletter from yesterday. And if that's what caused it, then I bet it was some fucking moron webmaster that was too lazy to click the remove link & reported it to a few places. |

Those name servers point to the godaddy block, so I suspect they have created an entry to allow them to do that sort of thing. I am not sure about the contract for a domain, I am not clear on what powers the registrar has. If they had some power, you would think that all those KP domains would just disappear so quickly. I guess not.
Godaddy really is starting to show up in the middle of a bunch of things... makes me wonder, at least a little bit. Alex |
I too think that GoDaddy has been turning up at the center of controversy more than the norm. I would hesitate to do any biz with them at the moment. I use to know the person who started that registrar but I think they sold it and I have no idea who the new owner is.
|
Hey, if you reported godaddy for spamming, would they have to shut themselves down, without checking with themselves to see if your accusation was true, then charge themselves a reinstatement fee reguardless off the outcome of the "investigation".
Looks like a little diversification is in order. SS |

HMMMMM...very very good question....someone should look into this..... |
Official Announcement:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/announ...05wegcash.html I just busted out the search & replace software - too bad I can't update my links til tomorrow morning cause it'd fuck up the site |banghead
changing links
Here's a real stupid question from a relative newbie: If we change our links do we risk getting blacklisted for changing sites after they are listed?
|
To the best of my knowledge no link list would every ban you for this, at least non that I know of.
TGPs are a whole other story. Many TGPs are constantly checking their galleries with bots. Many of them have their bots set to delete changed pages or even worse delete and ban changed pages. :( |
Cleo:
I am mostly concerned about tgps, so what do you suggest we tgp submitters do, especially if emailing the various tgps is just not possible. I supposed that since our galleries now will show errors that we have nothing to lose by changing the links? |
Your pages will not show errors to the TGPs since your page is not affected by what happens to your sponsor.
But fuck if I know what to do about your galleries since changing out your link code is going make the page look chnaged to the TGP's script. :( It's your fucked if you do and your fucked if you don't. The way I read the notice is that the old URL will work again in the near future so I guess it comes down to risk getting banned or risk losing some sales on your galleries. Personally if it was my stuff I would change out the link codes on all of my stuff except my galleries that had been submitted to TGPs. |
Thanks for your advice and yed in re-reading their message it does imnply that in the future both sets of linking codes will work.
Btw, I love M3 hosting that you recommended. |
Fucking Go Daddy is amazing, this shit keeps hitting the fan with them. Not sure we will be sending out our newsletter next week as planned until our shit is moved from Go Daddy. Not sure who deserves the bigger punch in the face, the lazy ass Webmaster that didnt feel like opting out, or shit ass Go Daddy, trying to control the world without first really looking at the situation at hand.

I agree, if they are yanking domains without due process they've just shot themselves in the foot imho.
In this line of business spamming will ALWAYS be an issue, whether its an affiliate trying to generate sales, a surfer that forgot he opted into a mailing, or a normal sponsors newsletter someone doesn't bother to click the 'remove' button to. Then a registrar accepts annon complaints and yanks without even bothering to check details?? thats utter BS! That leaves anyone using that registrar vulnerable even to malicious reports. At the VERY least they need a verification format to follow, then a warning process ... BUT I personally don't think its the registrars place to intervene, a host I can understand but a registrar?? hmmm Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? I honestly can't recall hearing about any. |
I have seen (and encouraged) some country extensions to pull domains with child porn on them, or other types of sites that are in violation of their terms. Some of the country codes do not permit porn domains, and use of them for porn can get them pulled without warning.
I have not seen the GoDaddy agreement for a domain registration, and I do not know if they have anything in their terms which says they can do this. The only time I have ever seen a domain get pulled at all is during a dispute over copyright or whatever, and that only happens when things are all proven and done for. GoDaddy might have just signed their own lives away... if I had anything over there, I would be getting it out of town as fast as possible (and moving it to domainnamesystems.com :-) ) Alex |
Yea godaddy is deep in the shit now........Ive never used them and I never will, I use powerpipe, have never had a glitch (in my 3 years), $7,99/domain
|
Man this is unbelievable, WEG are good people. I hope they pull through this OK.
Cheers, Luke |
Well... it looks like they have everything straightened out now. wegcash.com is working and the name server is OK also.
