Whats your main form of communication with

other webmasters and people you do business with online?

Osiris 2003-10-09 02:33 AM

ICQ and E-mail unless they want to call...

docholly 2003-10-09 04:17 AM

actually it depends on whether it's my adult which is mainly handled via email, my forum and yahoo..

or my main stream biz..which is handled almost 100% on a program called Groove.

The Groove Network

we upload files, have working space like a white board, instant messaging..and hold virtual meetings on this. As a consultant, i find it very helpful for my clients so there is also a historical record of what has transacted so there is never a question or a miscommunition. and i even have my space with a paypal button so they can send me instant payment.

Microsoft has one that is similar but i like the features on Groove and the name is so much Kewler.. |rasta|

ICQ and email, don't call me cause you probably wouldn't understand me :)

teamperfecto 2003-10-09 04:54 AM

I prefer ICQ for the fast and instant shorter messages, maybe in some cases longer ones aswell.

But using the phone I think is one of the best when it comes to longer, or more important issues etc, etc..

IC|skull| |skull|
(I See Dead People)

Edit: I can't help it, I'm a knee-jerk smartass. :P
Seriously, ICQ and email are my lifelines.

Surfn 2003-10-09 05:37 AM

My preferred method of communication is smoke signals |hotjump|

LilBiggz 2003-10-09 07:09 AM

Boards and email. ICQ just bugs me, cuz no matter what I'm doing the mother fucker will pop up... |jackinthe

urb 2003-10-09 08:27 AM

I don't use ICQ anymore and I really miss the immediate contact you can get with it.

adamneve 2003-10-09 09:07 AM

i use ICQ, Email, Phone, Boards, Yahoo messanger, aol
you name it|pcsucks|

Greenguy 2003-10-09 09:32 AM

I choose "email" as I tend to do important things & things that I'd forget to do otherwise via email.

ICQ & the boards are great, but I have a tendency to forget to do things that I discuss on those 2.

And the internet has ruined phones for me (as well as my hand-writing skills - LOL)

Mine too... I can't even understand half the things I write on paper. It's messy as shit..

EclectiXXX 2003-10-09 11:05 AM

IRC is nice too just not many folks use it anymore....

Surfn 2003-10-09 11:09 AM

That fiasco a few years ago with the providers pulling out of IRC because of DOS attacks pretty much killed it off |violin| |sad|

Cleo 2003-10-09 11:31 AM

ICQ for something that needs to have my full attention, but I actually hate ICQ, lol.

E-mail is very good as long as it doesn't get lost in the junk.

Telephone is still the best as it doesn't involve my lousy typing skills. :D

Yeah I use Greenguyandjim a lot on irc, have made some great friends, contacts, done business and got instant help with programming problems.

Extreme John 2003-10-09 06:42 PM

Icq for me and it's my nightmare, I have actually been trying to tone shit down to email for people I dont generally talk to, everyone seems to love to add me to Icq than not say anything, or ask me about something that I dont run or own anymore.

So someday hopefully Icq for friends and people I frequently speak to, and email for everyone else.

I hate both though :)

Tommy 2003-10-09 07:19 PM

I use the phone a lot because I like to feel people out to see if they are crooks or not

otherwise email

Carrier Pigeons |loony|

Actually, ICQ and email, with email set to check every 5 minutes.
I hate IRC (sorry MML - will try to hit the Java version later this month)
Phone only when the above isn't fast enough.

Cleo 2003-10-09 08:43 PM

Pneumatic tubes, we all should be connected by pneumatic tubes big enough to hold cat or two or maybe a pizza rolled up. :D

Hello is this Pizza To Go? Great I would like to order one large pizza and two cokes, please tube it right over.

Is this Groom a Pussy? Yes I'm tubing both my cats over for a lion shave down.

ICQ for me and email for important stuff :)

spazlabz 2003-10-10 08:21 AM

Damn I am the only one who choose phone! here is why;
1)ICQ isnt reliable at all. Just yesterday sent a very important message over ICQ and the party I sent it to never got notified.
2)e mail spam blocking software LOVES to block my domain, and its such a sweet and innocent domain. I mean come on, spazlabz? whats wrong with it? But it gets blocked all the time.
3)Lets face the facts. You really have to work at being good with boards, a talent i lack completely.

I can talk though! Hell yes I can. I love the phone. Got my little headset and everything. I feel like a porno astronaut with it on. Or a big time mover and shaker which of course is as much a fantasy as the astronaut thing!

Hell yes, gimme a call!!

ICQ or email, depending on who it is and what it is. The problem with ICQ is if you switch to 'do not disturb' most people seem to read it as 'please bug the hell out of me'. So I tend to be invisible a lot and get 'are you there?' messages instead.

Most common cause of ICQ delivery failure: You included a URL in your message.
By default, the latest releases of ICQ do not accept any message containing a URL. It also fails to notify either the sender OR the receiver that a message has been blocked.

I actually use Trillian because I can't stand having four IM's running along with everything else I use. And it doesn't block URL's on my ICQ messages. It accepts Y!, MSN, ICQ and AIM messages. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but I can get bells and whistles at the dollar store |rasta|

Surfn 2003-10-10 04:55 PM

I just upgraded from smoke signals to WIRELESS smoke signals |rasta|
