Hotlinking Images From FHGs
I'm fortunate enough to get a sub here and there where the HTML page is hosted on the submitters own domain, but all of the gallery images are hotlinked from wannawatch.com, TCG's FHG domain. The subs are promoting TCG's sites, but I tend to interpret this type of submission as a form of trickery. As if the submitter hopes to fool me with the fact that the sub'd url is his own. Don't these people realize that galleries get reviewed?
But another thought came to mind (which doesn't happen often). Do you imagine that perhaps the submitters that do this don't realize that they shouldn't, no matter whether the sponsor cares or not? Or do you think that they are just cheating schmucks who are willing to play blacklist roulette in order to scrimp on bandwidth? |
Useless Warrior IMO I wouldn't allow sites like this on my list because you never know when the sponsor will up and change on you. Prime example ARS when they took most of there sites down. If most of that users free sites were like that and the sponsor moved or changed the images you would have a site full of dead or not niche related image links that you wouldnt know about unless you had a complaint feature on your site.

i blacklist for that. i dont want to spend the time to investigate whether the sponsor approves of it or not. or if thats hotlinked from a sponsor or from another webmaster. i dont think theres any good reason why a gallery submitter would need to hotlink images or videos. bandwidth is pretty cheap these days.
