Thumbnail and Image Sizes
When build galleries for link lists and TGPs, what is the acceptable size (not dimension) for thumbnails and images?
|
I can give you the minimums on most (7) of my TGP's. Min image size 12288 min Thumb size1012 (I like bigger thumbs) I have max sizes on everything too but they are pretty large and not many submitters have a problem with that.
Need more info from me hit me on ICQ |rasta| |
Bigger thumbs that are 140+ on the long side work better. I make most of mine 150 pixels long and when using wide thumbs I usually go 160 wide. For the big images the link lists will not list you if the images are not at least 500 pixels. I recommend 600 to be safe.

I notice that pig pics under 20k will cause a lot of the scripts to kick you so I always try to keep them bigger then that. My big pics are 640 on the long side and that gives me file sizes of anything between 19k to 58k depending on the content.
My thumbs seem to stay around 4k. |
For me...
Thumbs - 100pix+ preferably >120pix - <15k Images - >/= 500pix but less than = 800pix - 40-60k best - anything over 80k gets looked at hard.. and anything over 100k gets declined. DD |
Thanks folks! Exactly the info I was looking for.
DD, is 5 to 6kb to compressed for a 125pix? |
Chop, always depends on the compresion used, orig. content etc..
but if you can get em to 5-6 and still "see" the image they should be cool. I usually use 140 square thumbs and they vary between 6-10k DD |
Some of my full sized images are 400k!
I was wondering why DD hasn't listed me. |
chubster...probably a good thing you didnt get listed...that size pics will run up some bandwidth real quick
