Massive Copyright Infringement - maybe your site is affected (jay,marissa,maxporno,..

to be able to detect it browse with your browser user agent set as: Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)

here you learn how to do it:
http://johnbokma.com/mexit/2004/04/2...useragent.html

i have lost appox. 30k google traffic due to the duplicate filter because my site lost against this spammer and copyright violator

contact his host (copyright violation), his registrars (fake whois info), and maybe google (copyright, spamming). i noticed that some site's google rankings might suffer also, others did not suffer but you should watch this

wow, that's pretty bad..... but smart.

I remember a while back there was someone redirecting the google bot like that, he had millions of autogenerated pages in the index all getting high spots and even though i reported him to google several times they never seemed to do anything about it.

well smart when it comes to build a cloaked network of sites, that is on his own risk, but copying ENTIRE sites of other people's takeing all the images is certainly a bad thing and it would less bother me if this wouldn't cause that some of the stolen sites are filtered out as duplicates. btw i don't think he is getting a lot of traffic as he cannot take over the ranking of a copied site (google fixed this lately according to ww) - a classic loose - loose situation.

You don't need to change user agent, you can use google translator:

http://translate.google.com/translat...lient&hl=en&u=[fraudulent site]

SEO_Konsul 2004-12-22 06:15 PM

here I posted what can be done against it:

http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...threadid=14514

My device:

Go and look after the whois of the domains beeing used for spamming your sites. Looking fake? Go on and report them to Icann. Here an interesting article comcerning this problem: http://news.spamcop.net/pipermail/s...ust/055780.html

Try to find out who is the registrar: use http://www.whois.sc/ then click on the ICANN registrar. Now you get full info of the registrar and you can report that domain as a spammer domain so they can shut it down.

Try to find out where the domains beeing used to spamm your sites are beeing hosted: use http://www.whois.sc/ type in domain name, clich on ip adress and you will get the full info about the host. Now send them a complain.

Try to find out what sponsors he/her/they use and what's their affiliate code. Then send them a spam report.

sorry, 10 minutes over °

Rocco 2004-12-22 06:58 PM

rorax - cool.

SEO_Konsul - yep, that's what I have done, he is using fake whois info, i also have contacted his host, and contacted google. i will read that article, thanks.

link was broken, but i guess it is: http://news.spamcop.net/pipermail/sp...st/055780.html

Rocco 2004-12-22 07:22 PM

the guy removed everything. i hope he got smarter now, everyone is tempted by the quick buck, it sometimes is hard to find the balance. i hope i get my rankings back..

verve 2004-12-22 08:12 PM

xxxjay 2004-12-22 09:28 PM

Rocco 2004-12-23 08:19 AM

Can someone please explain to me what happened here. How is this person ( not too technical please ) getting traffic that doesn't belong to him ?

I am guessing mebbe a person searches on Google and clicked on a link for Rocco and they got mr bad guy's clone site. BUT HOW ? If google links to Rocco, then how is the surfer getting the traffic?

How does one find out if their site is being screwed ?

Any help you can lay on a stoopid newbie would be greatly appreciated. The use of little, not-too technical words would be GREAT !!

Well, the actual crime committed is copy theft. Using various methods, somebody (nobody, presumably) used Roccos text copy and possibly page designs to set up new pages.

His goal was to try to rank ahead or alongside Rocco, and get people to click on his links in google, instead of Roccos.

Because of how Google handles duplicate content, usually picking newer versions of a duplicate page over older versions, this also causes Rocco's pages to be pushed back. So Rocco get's doubly screwed.

This type of thing has been happening a lot lately.

Any small to large linklist and TGP can be attacked this way.

Page copying has been happening for years, the biggest difference with this new generation of copy theives is that they are using software and scripts to build MASSIVE numbers of pages and automatically steal copy.

There are more details, but I'll stop there.

That's probably half the problem... it's not just "trash" people now... anyone with a few bucks and no technical knowledge can do it.. and if you were a surfer who ran across a site selling a software program that promised shitloads of search engine traffic at the click of a button.. it would be pretty easy to get sold on that idea without thinking they are stealing of someone else...

Nobody is still here online... if it was a mistake, why dont you tell us exactly what steps you took to do it?... or post the place that supplied the script if thats what you used.

If Rocco thinks you are not scammer thats a pretty good reference in my book.... and If you are hanging around watching this thread maybe you want a chance to work honestly?

I'd post if you do... good time when everyone is in xmas good will mode too ;-)

Is everyone up there excited yet? Kids are waking up all over AU about now.. and Santa is already on the way to your place!! |santa| |bananna|

Im quite confused about all this thing... I know that I lost about 3/4 of my google traffic, all my #1 serps went to hell, but like I wrote in the other thread, it happened to me 2-3 times before and every time the situation was back to normal after 2-3 weeks.
Thats why Im confused - I thought its normal, all will be back to normal like it used to , and then Im reading all this stuff about google filter, website coping etc. Is it an emergency situation ?

RawAlex 2004-12-26 07:07 PM

The amount of code required to copy sites is almost criminally small, a VERY short piece of PHP will do the trick and be transparent enough to make googlebot read the page, which is what the intention is.

I made one as a test when learning PHP that could easily make any root site appear as an html page on a domain I owned. It isn't hard to then filter out and redirect on everything except googlebot. With the current set of parameters that google has adopted, it looks like the NEWER page gets the revelvancy over the original root domain, which is INSANE.

It's getting ugly out there. Maybe the google boys made a few too many dollars and are not watching the development as closely as before. :(

I have problem alike forementioned. The guy registered the similiar domain (in fact he added hyphen inbetween words).
Then he shamelessly redirects (using CCBill affiliate ID) to the site I maintain, so he gets half of money of every payment, rebills etc.

I've followed his site appearance through the time, he is doing it for about 2 years now. Earlier he had a copy of my "enter-exit" page, with the enter link pointing to the referal url. As the original site changed appearance so did his.
Now he doesn't even bother copying anymore, he just redirects with the php function Header("Location...").

I want to protect business from him as legal as possible, but I know about USA laws only from TV, since I'm from Europe. What can I do about this smartguy?

excuse for my tarzan english.

Porn Meister 2004-12-29 02:24 AM

stanjoe, I'm not sure thats exactly whats being described here..

Your situation sounds like you run a program through ccbill, and this person bought a domain with a hyphen, and is sending you affiliate traffic through the Header:Location? I'm not really sure thats a bad thing.. better he/she send you the targetted traffic than to someone else :)
I also dont think that a simple single Header would involve a google penalty, although I'm not sure. I use that method to link to sponsor codes sometimes on some domains because it looks cleaner than a complicated link code..

Rocco 2004-12-31 10:49 AM

also check if your titles got abused/violated on webpark.pl

happend also to me, but don't know how to find and contact it's host

If he has been doing it for 2 years... then I don't think you can complain... after allowing it for so long.

I never would have paid him to start with..
