Strange Bookmarks

So, during vacation my only rule for myself was, no posting and no real work. But, I really could not stay away from my pc because of deliveries and such. So, I was bored and decided to check out some of my old bookmarks. I could not believe that I had about 8, what appeared to be, CP bookmarks. And, just a lot of general porn bookmarks that I did not add.

I use as much protection as I can to prevent these things and yet, there they were.

Wow. Who knew that you were such a perv?:D

Linkster 2004-12-27 12:03 PM

Use something like Webroots spysweeper - it will ask you every time something wants to add to your favorites or bookmarks

Got it Linkster :)

The continued use of software that is a POS is kind of like continuing to go back to an abusive companion. You keep on thinking that it is going to be better each time but in the end you just end up being abused one more time.

I would use firefox if it wasn't so unforgiving.

Amen to that..... Make the break to FireFox Jim...... even when shit doesnt work(which is not FF's fault!) it's still better than that IE piece of shit...:)

I use IE and have never had anything inserted into my bookmarks except the annoying AOL, Real & Windows links.

Must be that I surf mostly legit websites :D

RawAlex 2004-12-27 05:20 PM

Jim, I have kept IE and I use it only to surf to specific destinations that I am 100% confident in. I would NEVER use it to just browse anymore, that would be painful.

If you insist on using it, run windows update regularly, install a firewall, and NEVER click okay on any popup boxes you see.

Using IE to surf the net is like cutting your dick with a razor then sticking it in the asshole of a whore with multiple needles sticking out of her arm.

You know- a couple days b4 Xmas I went back to the tanning salon woman's house to hook up DSL for her.

I also had to come up with a mail solution 'cos Outlook Express crashed when reading messages or addingto address book, or doing anything it was supposed to do.

I recall installing Office 97 for her and Outlook 97 worked with Optonline...but for some reason i still don't know- it refused to check mail on Verizon.

I was pretty happy Firefox / Mozilla was around.

I was able to remove the spyware programs and just install Mozilla and set her up to surf and use e-mail in Mozilla.

Oh, and I actually suggested to her that for her an Apple would probably be a good idea when she is ready to get a new system. When do I get paid, Cleo? ;)

ADDING: After I got home I thought to myself that I really hadn't ran spybot or adawre in some time and I shouldn't just put my faith in FireFox.

I updated both proggies and ran them both expecting to find a couple things.

NOT ONE FUCKING THING FOUND except harmless tracking cookies.

Now...maybe with SP2 the results would be the same. But I feel shiny happy in firefox. :D
