Ive been asked by Chris at FTV Girls to look into hosted free sites. As there seems alot of link list guys here I like to know what you guys would like to see on hosted free sites.

Thanks DangerDave that cleared up alot still unsure why the big pic on a html seems to be a sticking point one whould have thought on HFS they would be the way to go.

Dose the number of links out to a sponsor worry you guys?

That issue in itself might be worth a thread :). There are many LL owners who don't allow big pics on html pages to prevent submitters from abusing surfers with banner farms, trojans, etc. I allow big pics on html pages so long as there's only one sponsor link/banner and it isn't obnoxious.

In the end it's a balance between a good surfing experience for the surfer and a money making opportunity for the LL owner. You may find that many LL owners who don't allow full sized pics on html pages for submitted sites may be willing to bend the rules on HFS. Then again I could be wrong.

Personal opinion: as long as the ads are tasteful I don't have any issue with them.

My biggest personal issue with HFS is the shameful reuse of templates. You'll find plenty on that in the other threads DD linked to.

Just a random thought on this.

Make a cash gaurantee that the links will *never* change unless an act of God, hehe

Crap, just remembered I need to go work on my list of 18,000+ imported sponsor sites...

Some of the biggest problems include:

Off niche content or content lacking the actual niche advertised

For example, I had to block thousands of a certain sponsors free movie galleries again today, because 70% of the time I click for a movie, I'm getting redirected.

Now luckily, all I needed was a quick regex and not output anything containing my code, but I think it's still pretty indefensible.

I like them and I'm new with them and they're going through big updates, so I am not too put-off by it. But this is the type of thing that would normally cause a complete and permanent blockage..

A couple more questions Concerning Movie FHS's:

How do the LinkList Gods feel about embedding movies into their own html page instead of opening them up in WMP?

..and having a text link and/or/both banner on this page?

I wouldn't like it if it was a regular free site. BUT if it's a FHS I'd be ok with it - I get money for listing it so it should sell as much as possible :)

Have a title for each site
Mix up the templates and layout
Use content that matches the site you're promoting
Prefer to not have pics on html pages
Use decent pics (or vidcaps), not Blurry vidcaps

Links out really do not matter but be sure there are not blind links all over the site.

I am going to be implementing a new script into our ftvcash program. you guys will be able to pick the free site template that you want to use and match it to the content. please let me know what things you would like to see in the free sites.
