404 page question
 

Is there any rules or restrictions you linklist owners have about this..
if i submit you site from
mydomain.com/mysite/index.html
my page
mydomain.com/404.html
can have or can't have popups, popunders, blin links, and so on,
i am sure you don't like dialers on that page, i don't like dialers or viruses at all, but i am wondering what are restrictions about other LEGAL things....
I am designing my 404 page now, and i would like to take maximum out of it, but i would still love you guys to like it and approve it...

can i use that?

Put lots of pop-ups and try to trap all your surfers. Also try out doing auto installs and changing their home page and add lots of bookmarks.

This should go over especially well with reviewers who get your 404 page by mistake.

OR
Just make up a nice page with no pop-ups or anything with links that you think you might make a sale off of.

This will probably make you much more popular with your surfers and webmasters reviewing your stuff. ;)

If it's a site that you have a lot of surfers on (Link List, TGP, etc) then try to make it something fun that directs them back to the main page - I do still giggle when I see mine:

But for the rest of the sites, a nice clean ad usually works best :)

oh, i don't have a lot of errors on my pages, but as much as i know don't making 404 page is always leaving money on the table, and i wish to make it the way you will like it, since you send me traffic, and i must respect your rules...

also you know better then me that we don't get 404 traffic only from our mistakes but from greedy smart surfers too, since when they get to url:
www.mydomain.com/site02/index.html
some of them will try to see if there is
www.mydomain.com/site01/index.html
too,
and some will also try to hotlink our pictures, movies from some boards too...

I have known/heard about this board for a long time, but never got around to joining it!

One really good way to get your sites blacklisted is to sell your 404 traffic to a sponsor. I blacklisted a webmaster last week because he had some broken thumbs in his galleries and when I clicked on them, I got sent to a web page that tried to install four trojans on my computer. After he contacted me and explained that he wasn't doing that, it was the sponsor he sells his 404 traffic to, I told him to write me after he dumps that sponsor. I'll test it again and reinstate him if his 404 page is clean.
