6 horsepower, top speed of 40mph

I wonder what the acceleration curve looks like on that with 5 people hanging off it.

"she gotta have a ba donk a donk butt" - I know I heard Tracey Morgan use this term on Saturday night live

A chap who lives not too far from me is selling a Russian scud missile launcher, complete with a de-activated missile. Just needs a bit of work on one of the engines. A snip at £25k. Apparently he's had some interest from people in Hollywood.

Couldn't find a link to the article I read in the Fenland Post, but here's one to the Cambridge News - details are a bit different - turns out he's selling it on ebay http://w3.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/story.asp?StoryID=68066

You guys know I am a certified mechanic of 21 years and there is NO way that sled will go 40 mph - LOL anyone who even think of buying that joke is nuts..

cd34 2005-01-31 01:32 PM

a few years back, I joked about buying a Russian Juliette Class Sub that was parked in St. Petersburg, FL. They were asking $950k. Our city bid on it and were going to build a tourist trap^H^H^H^H venue. The other company ended up selling it for $2 million to the film company that filmed K19. I believe they have since donated it to a town as a museum. I had a friend in the film business years ago that owns about 20 '30s cars that rents them to studios -- he spent most of his time juggling the cars around on the LA street where he lived. :)

If you look hard enough, there are several Whiskey Class diesel submarines in the $200k+ range that are navagable. 12-15000 mile range, sleeping quarters for 56, 31000 gallon/120000 liter fuel capacity.

Spousal unit gave me a financial goal and if I met it, I could buy one. Although she declined to ever go in it while it was under way.

Dammit! That's what I was thinking too! And I'm a Former Marine!!!!

I sold off my amazingly awesome 100gal SeaClear System II tank back in 2002 because we were fixing to move. I really miss my Oscars. *pout*

Q-man 2005-02-02 07:06 PM

still thinking of buying one for my new house. I am sure it will look nice with tropical fish in it.

Close to where I live there is a guy who owns a tank (traditional WW2 type design). He drives it round the streets occasionally. A few years ago I saw it parked up, with a parking ticket on it. Boy would I have loved to be the warden who wrote that ticket.

digifan 2005-02-13 11:53 PM

That has to be the weirdest interpretation of a tank I have ever seen. Not that I see a lot you understand. Surely this is some kind of joke. BTW notice in the pics how it appears to hover a few inches off the deck |biker

cd34 2005-02-14 12:04 PM

http://www.naodesign.net/donk-pro.htm

in the 4th picture, you can see the relative size.

I have a feeling it is a smaller wheelbase than the outside, with the edge lifted slightly to provide some ground clearance. The further the wheels from the outside, the more protected they are, and the less ground clearance you have. I get the feeling that if you're not on a rolling hill, you could high-side this thing very easily.

Theres a guy about 30 miles from Fargo (20 miles from me) that has several tanks (the army kind).
They all run and he drives them around his farm in the summer, but he can only drive the smallest WWI tank in parades. The rest are too heavy for the roads, and apparently it doesn't take to much for tank tracks to create crushed asphalt out of pavement.
