Getting UK Traffic

I have a small network of uk sites that I'm slowly developing into a bigger network.

Here's how I'm either already generating new traffic or intending to do so :

- Link Exchanges
- SEO
- PPC
- Offline advertising
- Online advertising

Can anyone suggest something I haven't thought of yet? A really good source of UK traffic. A great way to generate regional traffic?

As a side note, none of this need apply to the UK for it to perhaps help others. If you know any good ways of getting traffic in your country alone, please share it.

Look for GEOIP traffic

The best thing for regional traffic is GeoIP traffic ( you will get traffic from only the geographic area you want) Not al search engines provide this ..but many do.

Hope this helps

Id say that most search engines provide country specific PPC - at least the ones that you would want to spend money with do :)
Especially google adwords - best PPC Ive ever had for country specific ads - and yes Ive tried most.

It sounds like you might not be doing adult in this network - if thats the case youve hit most of the good ones - dont forget the country specific Directories starting with Dmoz, Yahoo and Google and branching out from there.

If it is adult - then you can probably add in some filtering tools like pic posts, toplists, link dumps etc. and for both adult and mainstream - blogs seem to be all the craze right now :) Although Im not sure thats going to keep going.
Another approach is the Google and Yahoo groups - as well as other "social networking" type sites that cater to the country and thrust of the sites.

I was hoping you'd answer this thread. :) It's an adult network. My thinking behind making it uk-specific is to minimise the effects of competition. For instance, I can't hope to compete with many international sites, but I can probably dominate my own county-wide traffic.

You've given me some great ideas, which probably means everything is covered now. I've heard quite a bit of buzz regarding yahoo groups but stupidly forgot that it could help me. Should be easy to target uk groups.

Anyway, thanks for that, I'll certainly be using all your ideas . . . in my greedy lust for more traffic :D

I submit my sites to UK Sex Guide. They send quite a bit of traffic.

Nice link, thanks. |thumb

I'm gonna set up a thread in Link & Traffic Trades in a day or two. Maybe we can setup some trades if you have uk sites. :)

you could also try an add campign wih Google UK and purchase traffic, needs some investment but careful selection of target words can still show a healthy profit

Meat 2005-02-02 09:09 AM

that also goes for any regional/country Goggle

Meat, thanks for the tip.

Not sure if I've mentioned this, but for anyone -- in any country -- geo targetting traffic to regional sites (especially your own) can yield fantastic results. Traffic quanitity is of course less than global but that is made up by conversions . . . a certain kind of surfer with prefer a certain kind of site if it's regional. The biggest benefit overall is you have less if any competition. And, in the case of your ppc campaigns, you can pick up some real bargains.

On a side note, I'm seeing a few more ukers around these parts. Paraphrasing David : I am the only uker in this vallayge :D j/k
