Damn Furnace

So last night right after the radio show, I smelled gas. So, I went to the basement and pulled the cover off the furnace. I noticed 3 of the 7 burners were not burning. Like a moron, I took a match to them :) Boom...I lost a lot of hair on my arm. So, for the rest of the night, I had to babysit the furnace. Getting fixed today :)

Cleo 2005-02-02 10:48 AM

Damn Jim I'm not getting a good visual of you with the festering ass pimple and singed hair.

I just turned on my A/C.

MrMaryLou 2005-02-02 10:58 AM

Ouch be careful Jim

amadman 2005-02-02 11:18 AM

Sounds dangerous.

Good thing you are getting it looked at.

Would have been an excellent opportunity to cauterize that rankled puss-filled wound on your buttocks.

The nice thing about those close calls is the fact that you can usually tamp out any accidental fires using the pants you just pissed in.:D

Damn Jim, it is a good thing you didn't blow your house up!

Cleo 2005-02-02 04:07 PM

Maybe Jim should change his name to Smoky

Cleo 2005-02-02 04:12 PM

cd34 2005-02-02 04:20 PM

dare we start a new poll? should Jim's new nickname be Smokey?

hahaha

yeah, its been done already.

Jim 2005-02-02 04:25 PM

Our house is big and the furnace is huge. There was a lot of gas blowing out of the burners when I lit it up :) Think is, I really do know better. Finally, the furnace guys are on their way here to fix whatever the problem may be. Then...I will sleep :) I have been in the basement everytime the furnace fires up. I stand there with a long lighter and the instant the other burners turn on, I fire up the others by hand. I have been doing this for about 19 hours now.

cd34 2005-02-02 04:27 PM

you could have turned it to 100F, and opened windows, guaranteeing yourself that they would never go out and slept. :)

Cleo 2005-02-02 04:33 PM

Sounds like you have your furnace problem under control Smokey

Jim 2005-02-02 06:07 PM

Well, as I quietly feared, I need a new furnace. Going to be installed tomorrow.

Porn Meister 2005-02-02 06:19 PM

Yikes, scary one.. glad you had it checked right away.. sorry you need to shell out for a new one, but it's bound to be nice and quiet and more efficient, so thats a good thing.
When mine kicks in, I have to crank up the tv volume it's so loud.. I WISH it would break, since I rent.. they'd replace it damn quick hehe :)

Cleo 2005-02-02 06:29 PM

Ouch
New furnace sounds expensive and inconvenient. :(

Useless 2005-02-02 08:22 PM

I just replaced my old beater with one of them there high efficiency units. I'm still amused by the luke warm steam that comes out of that 2" PVC pipe. I do kind of miss being able to warm up my hands on my big brick chimney though.

My brother has oil heat and they told him that the new ones are not much more efficient then the old ones.

cd34 2005-02-02 08:51 PM

Just last November we had to have the A/C serviced because it wasn't keeping the house cool.

However, all through the last half of January it did its job keeping the house cool.

I feel your pain.

:)
