Bait and switch
 

I can't believe my furnace guys just tried the old bait and switch. They give me a price of $2700 yesterday and today they tell me the furnace I was buying got hit by a forklift. Now, they need to charge me $4000 for the better one. Seeing that I was a master plumber in a past life, I know the game. So, I told them, see you around, I will just call someone else. Sure enough, they tell me they will do it with the good furnace for the same price.

when that happens, I never feel I can trust them to stand behind it after that and go elsewhere anyhow. Regardless of what they say or do to rectify it.

I feel that way too, Sparks. But, it is a good price and they have been around this area for about 35 years. So, any problems and I know where to find them.

I was a plumber for about 10 years..taught school for about 2 and even a construction engineer for about 2 years. I actually have a degree in construction engineering from Syracuse University.

and with all that formal training, still doesn't know how to light a gas furnace.
