Us webmasters know that we will be visiting a rather large list of submit pages before the days end. We are saving ourselves by using "short and to the point" descriptions as many of you like to put it... as it saves us from having to delete half the sentence or rewriting it altogether when it comes time to hit the LL owner who only allows 40 or in many cases LESS characters.

I get your point, but sometimes we point fingers at folks we really know are not to blame... it is your fellow LL owners that needs the talking to.

I have so much more to say, but I rather take one beating at a time.

The rest of you... Hi, nice seeing you again, this board always crashes my browser so I don't post much anymore. Never was big on the board thing anyway. I do read the board through boardtracker, and I do use the other resources at GG&J. This is somewhat a drive by rant. I will try getting in to read the replies if I can get my browser to not crash. I have a few other posts to make anyway.

I think sometimes people are quick to pull the trigger, and it ends up doing more harm than good... seriously, think about that.

I must say that over the last 5-8 months I'm pre-writing at least 3, if not 4 descriptions for my TGP submissions, and save them! I usually keep them opened in Notepad during submission, and I have the standard 30 characters in my Roboform.
My steps are 24, 30, 35, 40, and one of ~55-60 characters - just to satify most people!

Plus then there's the brain sport of writing particular descriptions for JennysBookmarks and Boneme/Fuckk, where you try to get as many of their micro-niche-categories as possible. With Jenny I often manage to have only like 2-4 characters waste in 55 allowed; even verbs can be fitted into categories with her - LOL

I do the same. I submit to 60 LLs when on a freesite building rampage, and I write a 50, 75 and 150 word description for each one. I respect my colleagues' right to control description length on their site, and I'm not about to submit a site with a 50 character description to a site where everyone else uses 150. I want my listing jumping off the page as much as possible on any LL I submit to, and using the max characters for a description is one way of helping this goal along.

The only thing that irritates me is when there's a max description length that isn't mentioned on the submit form.

We don't impose a limit on descriptions - the richer and more relevant they are, the better. Having said that, we don't want a fucking book! :)

I'm a fan of long descriptions which have been thoroughly gangfucked by keywords. I don't like it when the descriptions are off on some tangent that has nothing to do with the content, but otherwise people should use as much as they can. I have a big heart though. I stay awake at worrying about all of those stray SE spiders wandering around the net without enough to eat.

That's what i like about your site. Lots of space to create keyword-rich text (55 character i think?). I always hate it when I have to use 3 words -- primarily because it's hard to come up with an original description, or at least something not used by 30 other webmasters that day.

See there. I do agree with all of you. That it is in deed good to have longer descriptions when possible. And like Kristian said, It is hard to be short, to the point AND original all at the same time.

The problem I have ie that LL owners are quick to whine about what a submitter does, even if he means no harm. Cheating? fine. bitch. ban. whatever. Watermarked content?decline. etc. etc.

Joe LL. Owner has a LL that accepts 40 characters... Jane LL. Owner sees this and wants to one up Joe, so she allows 50. Well Jerry the fucking dingleberry says he wants 100 and it pisses him off when he sees people doing what Joe and Jane said to do... this my friend poses a problem with me and the way we view our peers in the adult industry. And personally, I think a LL owner should think a bit different. The submitter is your friend, not fellow LL owners, they are your competition.

In case you all haven't noticed, but there is about a dozen or even a dozen... dozens... of threads started everyday by a guy (or gal) that has decided it was easier to run a TGP or a LL. The number of sites sharing this same business model has multiplied tremendously in the past 2 years since I started in the biz (going on 3 years). every dozen threads like that is a dozen surfers per link and a dozen honest bleeding, sweating, crying, submitter you will be losing tomorrow.

I think there should be NO limit, but then tables in many sites would suffer the dreads of wrapping.. or worse, non-wrapping. If the limit was the same on every site, there will always be that one that is different. But no reason to make submitters feel like there is yet one more obsticle that they have to overcome before they can get a seat in the back of this theatre, just so we can watch some other asshole take the stage.

(PS - Hi Kristian, I have seen Romie only on ICQ in the past say2 maybe 3 months... I am still in, just hiding in the shadows where I can come out and kick up dust when I feel that something wrong has been said. Even if it were meant as an innocent piece of advice. Perhaps we catch up later on.)

I believe that the ammount of traffic you have does not determine the size of your dick.

Only a few things I find annoying with the description length...here they are:

1. When the tgp sets the description length between two numbers fairly close. i.e. minimum 25 - Maximum 30. That's just annoying.

2. They say be descriptive but 20 character max. and they count the white spaces, lol. If you have any gallery that's even remotely unusual there's a snowball's chance in hell of fitting a good description in there.

3. Posting late at night when you're tired and the description, "Busty babe bangs big..." and suddenly you can't think of that one more b word that would fit to finish off your alliteration. However, this is my own personal cross to bear....hmm...bear...bear...hmm...nah.

TGP's are more annoying. LL's generally allow more text in descriptions... there is a significant difference between the two.

I'm the guilty party who wrote that little snippet. Seems like you think I was having a go, believe me I'm not. I write as close to a 70 character description when submitting, and this gets past every script I submit to, which is around 80 LLs, including GG (although obviously they write their own description), penisbot, wetplace, hqporn, psl, hoes, marks, cleos, et al. I'm not in any way saying you have to do that, it was merely a 'tip' or 'trick' designed to help submitters get more visitors to click on your particular link. No more, no less :D

Hi cfnmparty... like I said, I do see the points, but that will not fit 90 percent of the submitters that submit daily. And you got me... yes I did feel your article seemed a bit to say you might have possibly woke up with a submitter in your ass. It does happen, I know I run link and gallery sites too.

You say this 70 characters works on your schedule with 80 or so sites. How long did it take you to build up that list of regular sites that you find are the best choice for submitting (whatever the reasons) I mean, some folks lists are traffic oriented, some more towards ease and speed etc.

This was not anything towards you, but to vent for myself... maybe I woke up with a LL owner up my ass... it happens more often than anticipated. However, it did get a few folks to expand on your article a bit ;)

I would love to have that list :)

No worries :D Didn't wake up with anyone in my ass thankfully lol, it was something I posted on another board I use as some advice to someone who had a specific question, ie 'I just visited a site that had 556 sites in one catagory.How in the world can you have anything any different from anyone else when its all been done already?' I just thought it would be a good tip to share over here too :)

Took me about 8 months or so to come up with my list, which is traffic oriented. I've still to add some, and remove others. You're welcome to have that list:

I believe 2 on that list have a smaller limit, one is 65 characters, the other 50, which is easily tweaked, and of course there are a couple that allow more, again easily tweaked.
