Heya I just finished my first free site on my own hosting/domain so there should be no problem with whois info and so on :). Please comment it, reasons why it may not get listed, the layout etc...Thanks in advance!

Apart from your thumbs being distorted I think it looks good. I wouldn't put a link to the 2nd gallery on the 1st. Make the surfer go back to main. The more chances they get to see your ads the better.

Ok thanks for the comment man - and it makes a lot of sense not to add the link to the second gallery, think I will stop doing that :)

i make all my free sites with also an 'exit' link below or next to the 'enter' link.... if im correct some link lists require you to have an exit link on it.... am i right (link list owners)?

Wolly - that's one of those things that's determined by each Link List - some require it & some don't.

Definitely take care of the distorted thumbs, other than that it looks fine :)

it looks good! and i agree with madmax and Lemmy...only the distorted thumbs is the problem.

Ah fuck I submitted it without doing any thing about the thumbs couze I had deleted the originals O_o...btw how do you suggest making thumbs? Right now I run a batch file in PhotoShop that makes all thumbs 120x140, are there better automated solutions than this?

If all the pics have a longer width, then your thumbs need to be the same way - try resizing them to 120x90 (assuming you want to keep the width at 120 for the thumbs) That should keep the aspect ratio the same & the thumbs will not look squished together.

Ok so that's why a lot of people do 90x120 thumbs, because most pics look good that way? What about doing sizes like 120x120 or 100x100 do they also look bad or...?

I am not set on a specific thumb size really, but I think that thumbs should be bigger than 90x120, the surfer can better see what's goin' on then ;).

I think what GG meant was that your thumbs need to be the same aspect ratio as the big pics, assuming you're using an automated thumbs program.

You can give Easy Thumbnails a try.

That's what I'm using atm, it's a free program and seems to work pretty good.

It will give you the same ratio as the big pics as Lemmy and GG was suggesting.

You can go to settings and set max width and height. Also when setting max width and height you can set them to the same max and it will still fix them going by ratio of regular pic, just doesn't go past the max either way.

You can do a whole folder at one time or just 1 or 2 in the folder and it's a fast program. It also shows you a preview of the thumb going by your settings before making the pic.

It's not a big fancy program which I don't mind. It's nice and simple which makes it fast and easy to work with :)
