I think I am done with 24

Just watching last nights episode and I just can't take it anymore. I like my drama at least half way believable.

I let the heroin withdrawals that lasted an hour last season go but this season is just a little too much for anyones imagination.

Ramster 2005-02-08 11:48 AM

C'mon, you gotta be kidding. The show is great!! ;)

amadman 2005-02-08 12:23 PM

I never watched a single episode.

Wanted to at first. But with all the hype before the first season I was tired of it before the first episode even aired.

Ramster, the terrorists have a device that can control all nuclear power plants in the US. That device that turns out to be the only one in the world was sent by a lone man with it handcuffed to his wrist on a commercial train. How much security do you think a device like that would really have?

cd34 2005-02-08 12:35 PM

you're right. They would have a Cessna 172 flying above for surveillance.

Hollywood writers -- what are they thinking?

Like a Cessna 172 can keep up with some of those trains.

Kath 2005-02-08 12:36 PM

Yeah, I'm hearing the same from friends who were major 24 fans.... they are tired of the BS and WAYYYYY far-fetched story lines. I mean, c'mon - it's fiction, it's TV and it's F-A-K-E... but people want a little dose of reality - of believability with their television. lol

|angry|

Jim 2005-02-08 12:56 PM

When watching a drama I like to at least pretend it could happen.

Greenguy 2005-02-08 02:06 PM

You gonna stop watcvhing The West Wing as well? Some of those story lines are a tad bit far fetched as well.

I just watched last night's episode & I can't wait for next weeks!

Torn Rose 2005-02-08 02:14 PM

I'm actually ready to turn off West Wing myself for the same reason. Went from damn good stories to crap real fast.... The last 2 years have been shit.

I can not understand why they would want to replace the cast, yes it's part of reality, but they could just as easy make a season = 6 months in time, rather then 12 months. So no matter what the cast will be replaced, and how often has they been done and still had success?

The moment they swear in Alan Alda is the moment they need to end the series.

Jim 2005-02-08 02:14 PM

The west wing is almost accurate :) At least you can pretend it is.

b1ng0 2005-02-08 02:15 PM

Hey, at least they show new episodes of 24 every week unlike Lost which shows a month of reruns per every new episode. That show is getting annoying real quick too, even aside from the 1-2 new episodes in the last 2 mos. It's like they weren't expecting it to be a hit so they're scrambling to write the new shows -- and then fucking it up :(. That said, I'm sure I'll have my ass firmly planted on the couch tomorrow when it's on ( new episode - finally ). I agree though, the drama has to be somewhat believable or else it gets cheesy real quick.. enormous invisible polar bears on a tropical island anyone?

|dizzy|

Torn Rose 2005-02-08 02:25 PM

HEY!

Don't knock the Polar Bears...... |angry|

Ramster 2005-02-08 02:51 PM

Jim
Good point. I guess there would be just a bit more security with that one guy riding a commercial train. LOL

But the show leaves you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait until next week.

Jim 2005-02-08 02:58 PM

I guess I am looking forward to next week as well. Most things are easier to pretend they could happen than the lack of any security. Like last night... The mole was found out. But, before they guessed it was her they accused someone else because the message came from here station. There was no way to send something through her station from another because it was locked down. And then they figured out...the real mole used a cable to get in...ingenious.

Alphawolf 2005-02-08 05:24 PM

I thought that same thing beginning of LAST season of 24. I even mentioned here that they could make it into a Saturday morning cartoon and nobody would notice.

I was laughing outloud when the head chicks daughter was given an overdose in the basement of CTU, where they decided to take care of her during a terrorist attack.

LOL!

Ms Naughty 2005-02-08 10:14 PM

I liked the very first 12 episodes of 24. Those were the ones they had pre-written before they knew it would be a success. The premise hung together really well. But then they got successful, they were writing on the run and it started to piss me off because things became ridiculous. I started to hope someone would kill the blonde daughter as punishment for her sheer stupidity.

I don't watch many TV dramas anymore.

GeorgeTH 2005-02-09 04:58 AM

I watched all of the first, and really LOVED it, the second was already booooring and I didn't mind to miss 1/3 of all episodes, the third I watched for under 10 minutes and thought: "now this is getting really stupid, and it's all strung along the same lines as number 1 + 2" - and I never watched another minute of '24' - waste of time in my view (like 95% of TV)!

Do you remember: after the first they claimed they would NOT do another to keep the concept unique?

GenXer 2005-02-10 09:04 PM

I just watch bits and pieces of it to see Keifer Sutherland's ass. He's still looking good.

ngb1959 2005-02-11 02:26 AM

I absolutely love 24 and Lost.

Keifer Sutherland is hot. Who cares what's he's really doing, he's fun to watch.

The guys on Lost are hot too.

BTW, the polar bears are NOT invisible.

There's a new show on Friday nights called Jonny Zero that is good too. Plus the guy is easy to look at.

Looks like I'm going through a mid-life crisis. I only watch shows with good looking guys!

Evil Chris 2005-02-11 10:13 PM

I'd agree that is very far-fetched... I mean hell... all that can happen in a day?
It takes me 15 minutes just to drive to IGA.

But it leaves you hangin every week which is very entertaining.
My only bitch is that I like to watch "Las Vegas" too, and it's in the same time slot.

The Bitch & I have 2 TiVo's and a DVR, so even on the days when there's 3 shows on that we want to watch (like tomorrow, when The Grammy's, Carnivale & Desperate Housewives are on at the same time) we're covered :D
