IP Lookup function!
For the Techies out there... how does own find out how many other domains are hosted on a server/IP? Virtural and dedicated... Is there a simple search function a person can use?
Thanks!!! |thumb J |
No. Even a reverse lookup on an IP will display only one address... here is the best suggestion:
'Older browsers that are not capable of resolving several virtual hosts to a single IP number will instead displays a default index document that would show all virtual accounts that were assigned to that IP address, allowing the visitor to click on a link and go to their desired web site." You'd have to find one of these "Older Browser" which could be a task.. Finding how many IP based domains are ran on a server would be practiclly impossible. I could use a block of 10 IP addresses and have them hosted on multiple server.. shit with the right equipment like a cisco content switch I could use one IP address and have 100s of back end web servers... |
http://www.whois.sc/ will let you know what other domains are on the same IP with the paid account.

Great!! Thanks everyone! Looks like I'll need to buy that service... I just wanted to check on a few virtuals I'm using for tgp gals... they slowed down a bunch latley and I just wanted to see who else is sharing the disk... J
oh..one more follow-up for the techies. Can ONE dedicated/10MB switch handle a listing on the hun/worldsex etc... with a total gallery weight of 1 MB ??? Bandwidth isnt my concern.. it's the hourly requests... can a 7200 rpm keep up? Thanks again... J |
I don't think I've ever seen a Hun listing pull more then about 6mb on my sever. No slowdown at all.
